Heavy Assault Week

NC looks the best, imo

I like TR the best. Not a fan of that molded fin on the VS fellow. The NC guy looks like he made his helmet look angry so you know he's angry even when he's wearing his helmet.

Can't say I'm a fan of the lines on the VS armor there, which is disappointing. The chest is James Vega huge but there pauldrons don't match. And the helmet looks like goddamn Shredder.

NC seems like it needs a higher collar to protect the neck. (Kind of like what the TR has)

I'm pretty okay with the TR armor except that it seems like the 'brow' above the goggles should be lower. The extra space there makes it seem like the helmet is tilted back.

TR infantry doesn't look great in general but they're sort of consistently OKish looking as opposed to NC's wildly fluctuating between super cool (inflitrator, engineer, MAX) and ugly as shit (medic, light assault). I'd say TR also has the best looking weapons and vehicles overall.

VS guys all basically look pretty good (presumably due to being the art director's pet faction) but I feel like there's something more fun about rolling around in plain old tanks rather than weird alien hovergizmos...?

Also keep in mind that if we are selecting for vanity, there's supposedly going to be a lot of customisation available. Less dorky helmets will be in high demand for all factions, I'm sure.

I like the NC guy missing the neck protectors. Makes them looks more cobbled together than the TR accentuating their differences. Kind of like how the NC max sort of looks more like a suit built for work rather than war.

I do feel like VS deserves commendation for basically looking like the bad guys from Air Raiders

I'd have liked him to cobble together something to protect his exposed throat. It's like, hey, NC fella, I think I found the chink in your armor.

Yeah, the problem is that he's the heavy assault but he's kind of light on the protection side.

It'll be fun to see what kind of custom armors they come up with for those guys, like, if you'll have half the squad without helmets at all and half who've bolted scrap metal to their chests to cover their necks up

The trend right now seems to be that half of us like VS, and half like NC, but everyone is ok with TR, so we'll probably meet in the middle.

They need to fix that goggle gap though. It bugs the shit out of me. Drop the fucking brow on the helmet like an inch, for the love of god.

It seems the @planetside2 Twitter account is just giving out beta keys to anyone who asks for them. Note that you've got to be following that account in order to receive the message.

The beta is apparently starting "soon"
