I still remember the Dead Like Me movie. Not falling for that one again, :nosir:.

What about the unresolved cliffhanger at the end of My Name is Earl?

That unresolved cliffhanger gets plenty of callbacks in Raising Hope, at least.  It's pretty funny.

Sullivan Sluggers updated today talking about how he mismanaged the kickstarter and can't afford to ship books now.

And how if you just go buy another copy of the book, he can afford to ship the original orders.

He did that like three weeks ago, with a brand new Kickstarter project and everything, but it got shut down. Now he's trying it on Indiegogo.

On the complete opposite end of the Kickstarter spectrum: a project to help a 9 year old girl make her own RPG, because her older brothers said she couldn't.

Thanks to your generous donations our second kickstarter is funded and we can now finally finish plans for our third kickstarter.

Our third kickstarter will help pay for any international tariffs and OSHA compliance fees. Three kicks strong. #trip-kick

Clarification: those last tweets do not apply to our indigogo pre-kickstarter donors. On your shoulders, we stand.

Hey, remember this? It kind of took off over the weekend; they're up to about $21,000 now...and they've started getting death threats.

I'm not saying it makes direct death threats okay, I'm just saying people are angry at what looks to be, at first glance, someone using recent legit problems to scam people for money. I imagine by the end of the week we'll have a better view of the full story, at which point we can say that death threats are still not okay, but she was/wasn't scamming.

I'm actually happy about it, since it further justifies my decision to stay away from every goddam Kickstarter forever.

Speaking of which, has anybody commented on the fact that a man rich enough to build himself a real-life RPG dungeon and launch himself into space apparently needs one now too?

A very tiny part of me wants to say that he's using it more to make sure enough people want to buy into it, before sinking 3/4ths of his personal dragon hoard into it and losing it all, a la Amalur.

Robin Snyder has set up a kickstarter to put The Ditko Public Service Package #2 (a satire of the comics industry as it stood in 1991) back into print.

It's already well on its way and looks like it'll well exceed the goal.  But I think it could set a great damn precedent.  Most people don't know that Ditko's still working steadily, and it's a bit of a hassle to get your hands on his new work.  I'm hoping Snyder starts to see Kickstarter as a long-term solution to those problems.

Bissette just put up a fantastic Gorgo/Ditko post, so I figure I should go ahead and remind people of this thing one more time.  It's reached its goals, but I'm just looking at some of the incentives -- I've been meaning to grab some of Ditko's work in The Comics! for years anyway, and this looks like a great way to do that.  $20 (plus $5 shipping) will get you the Public Service Package plus a selection of The Comics back issues; another $10 will get you an issue of The 32 Series.  And, lest we forget, your money will actually be going to Ditko himself, unlike when you buy a Spider-Man comic.

I'm sorely tempted; I just found out I've got to replace my damn radiator, but it looks like this Kickstarter closes right around the time I'll be getting my first paycheck and I think I can swing it.

Here's a pretty good rundown of the criticisms, and her responses.

:tldr: version: The claims that she's a millionaire are probably not true, she's not actually best friends with Warren Buffet, she likely did not plan for the campaign to raise as much money as it did(but she probably should have), and while she is violating a couple of Kickstarter's TOS, Kickstarter themselves have publicly come out in support of her.
