I can never quite tell if he's serious or just Guilding it up hardcore.  Either way the man today bears little resemblance to the man who made Princess What's-Her-Name a hypercompetent warrior woman and cast himself as God.

"Uninfluenced by emotions or personal prejudices"

That.. is exactly how I meant it? I probably could have indicated that I meant more "without childhood nostalgia." Or more apt, thinking of it in terms of how the game actually plays and functions, separate from its killer art style.

I still maintained into my 20s that Earthworm Jim was a good, mostly because of my fond memories of playing it, the quirky art and the TV show starring Dan Castellaneta. Revisiting it recently, though, I was able to see just how unclear the rules are and how random the goals are, making it a very frustrating and confusing experience.

Earthworm Jim is an okay game until the third level tells you "No you were wrong to play this. Turn off the game console."

All of which are qualitative statements of personal opinion, just as surely as if I said the controls are tight, most of the levels smartly-designed even if frequently sadistic, and that the varying play styles between levels succeeded more often than they failed.

An objectively flawed game?  Sure.  A subjectively terrible game?  Obviously; can't argue with that.  But objectively a terrible game?  Nah.

It's okay for you not to like a thing, but if you declare your view to be the only possible unbiased conclusion, somebody might call you on it.

Broken Age is being split in two, so the first half can fund the second half.

This is indeed a brave new world of flim flam and snake oil.

White watches "started shipping this week."
Which means three weeks tops until I get it?

I'm super pissed about both the wait and the Best Buy thing. They said they wouldn't sell the retail watches until after the kickstarter backers get theirs.

They probably had a date set with Best Buy and all the delays fucked over the backers more and more each week but fuck, man.

Well, at least you're not an international backer on the Sullivan's Sluggers project! Those guys STILL haven't gotten their books, and just last week he posted an update saying they don't know when they're going to ship them, but hey, if you really want your book, you can pay extra and they'll happily ship it to you right away.

Yeah. I got my copy months ago. About the time he went crazy and said he blew all the money.
Still just kinda sitting there.
Each email from him has me shaking my head.

I got my copy a few months ago, took it out of its protective slipcase, and said something akin to, "Well, this is certainly a big heavy book." And then I put it back into the protective slipcase, and put it on my bookshelf.

Incidentally, does anyone want a big, heavy book, still in its protective slipcase?

Currently my success rate with Kickstarter is "50% recieved actual product", 25% "Product is on schedule" and 25% "Is Tim Schafer's Broken Age"

I'm calling that 3 out of 4, and that ain't bad.

Well let's see mine

Dice Age - Cast custom dice. Developer spent all the money getting burnt off by bad Chinese casting deals, is now sloowly trickling handmade versions to backers.
Pirate Kart - Got my t-shirt, no complaints.
UFHO2 - Game. if you pledged 55$ and up you got a Desura key to the alpha. The alpha that anyone can subscribe to for $8.
Spriter - Game dev application. I actually prefer the beta version to later ones.
Chuck's Challenge 3D - Game port. Releasing betas frequently, but not finished after a year.
Cloudberry Kingdom - Game. Same deal.
Jetpack 2 - Game. Samesame deal.
Knock Knock - Game. Also "being worked on", no beta releases.
Super Retro Squad - Yep.
Craftyy - I honestly don't know, I just funded this to give the guy money.
Dicecards - Card deck. Delivered, no complaints.
Dice Rings - Physical object. Delivered, ring size was too small for my hands. oh well.
A few others that are just "slightly delayed" instead of "interminably delayed".

Hmm, let's see:

Bad Penguin - Received backer reward of ten Christmas cards. Have not received updates on the project since October 2011.

Reaper Miniatures Bones - Received backer reward as of Friday. Approximately 10% of the miniatures are poorly molded.

Tropes Vs. Women in Video Games -  :whoops:

I uhh

I've backed 121 projects. A lot of those are just "$5 to help the project!" things, but the ones I can think of where I was supposed to receive something, I have.

Maybe I should make a spreadsheet.

I have yet to buy into a Kickstarter because every time I see one that gets interesting, it's like "Oh there's a really cool thing... that's only available as a $10 add-on to a $200+ package I don't want at all. NEVER MIND."
