Takeda House is defeated!
Distraught, three of the Great Lords will ride out to face Rance's entire army with their personal guards. This would be an issue if you like, had Rance participate in the last battle and get knocked down to 200 or less HP. Otherwise it's "hit them until they achieve their desired glorious deaths." Guess those dudes should have rode out earlier!
We capture Takeda House and take Sanada Tourin prisoner, Rance using an unusual bit of good judgement to point out that a man this smart would start a revolt.
Ahhh, look at all my land. Alright, let me explain how Takeda House works because I deflated them so fast it's funny.
Once you declare war on Takeda, they'll eventually have that earlier cutscene where they prepare to go all-out. After 2-3 turns of Takeda Army is Gathering, the Takeda Blitz occurs. They attack
four times, each wave led by one of the Great Lords. To say that you'll lose some land or battles is an understatement, it is all new players can do to win one or two battles and not lose an entire province.
So why does it matter, especially since I just showed you an experienced player can rip their House right out from under them? Let me quote the wiki.
A green exploration command to assassinate Takeda Shingen becomes available once both of the following conditions are met:
1. The player has previously defeated Takeda House via brute force and let the game auto-save. This can have been done in an earlier play-through, but can also be done in the current one (by conquering via brute force and then loading a save file where Takeda still exists).
2. In the current game you have successfully blocked all 4 consecutive attacks in a blitz, AND no other events is suppressing events at the beginning of the turn (which introduces the availability of the command, where Rance and Suzume discuss about Shingen). Clarification: the beginning of the turn event CAN occur on a different turn than the turn which you blocked all 4 consecutive attacks if there are other event suppressing this event. You only need to block ONE blitz, and it is possible for the event to occur after later blitz, which you do not need to block.
The Takeda House automatically falls after the "assassination".
So if you successfully defend four times(4 x 6 = 24 great commanders needed, good luck!) and are on a New Game+ and have defeated Takeda in a previous playthrough normally, you can use a special event to knock Shingen's hat off or something and make Takeda automatically dissolve. The Great Lords become mercenary units and you earn the "privilege" of being able to randomly catch them. As it's one of the few ways to get Cavalry units and they're all unstoppable Gods of War, it's pretty fantastic. But I've opted to beat them the old-fashioned way. I don't think I could weather the Blitz, I can field about 3 Great Unit Comps if I really try or would abuse Ikkyu again for another Witty Comeback win.
My first playthrough had me fighting Baba and Yamagata frequently, sometimes
together or with Sanada and/or Kousake, forcing me to reload 10-20 times per battle. I took them on about 10 turns earlier, though!
Alright... let's check out Sanada.
7s in damn near everything, but what stands out is that he knows Battle Strategy 3 for passing out buffs in battle, he has a unique move that forces the Morale Meter up in your favor by about 15%(every Great Lord can do this!) and his passive Fuurinkazan means that he starts
every battle with all four buffs to his stats, making his stats are more like a row of 10s.
Every Great Lord knows this passive! This is why Takeda House is a big deal. Strong unit comps and Commanders that can solo your best guys with a bad turn order or catching a Foot Soldier with their pants down!
But they're dead! Hee hee! We recruit Sanada because we can't have enough outstanding Tacticians.
And we have one Action Fan left. I impose a levy and end Turn 52.
