Sanada and Raccoon Guy reclaim more of my land with losses of 250 guys. It's just so easy!

Mouri attacks but with none of his daughters. I almost let him have the land but figure I should defend just for the Stack gains.



Is not difficult.

I think this may be a New Game+ thing or a "Recruited Uruza" thing! But hey, there's a festival and there wasn't one last time.





+1 Affection!

Turn 66 begins and we raise Naomasa to 1000 troops and give him the Warrior Permit. We unequip the Tactician permit from Sanada. Reclaiming land with him has been nice but now we can use one of our best units in battle again. We give Yoshikage +6 Affection worth of gifts and chat with him again.



HOLY SHIT this boosts my National Power in every province... I go from a cap of 88 to 105! Yoshikage you rule. He boosts up to Trust and I increase his Attack to 7. We hit up Purupet for some items since we've gotten a good amount of ogre bones recently from all the Dungeon dives.




First item is a bit dull but the second is very nice. We'll give it to Kenshin to be thematically appropriate and because we can significantly power up her unit by choosing the +100 Max Troops bonus each time!

I'll end the turn by taking land from Takuga. The next time you have Ranmaru and Katsuie enter a battle together after their marriage this cutscene happens.




"You know... you and I can... make children. Together." He finally gets it!



Like I said Takuga is a decent army but decent isn't very scary this late in the game. Their first province only has two territories too so we're already at 1/2. Get ready for more hard luck times, assholes!

Raccoon Guy and Naomasa begin carving up Houjou and Mouri land instead of reclaiming my own. See how fast Permits can make crushing a House?

Mouri attacks. After reloading about twenty times...




Excellent! 1/3 Maids captured. 6s in everything that matters, 5 action flags, Loot and Guard Plus and Counter-Attack 2. What a great Commander!

Taguka attacks again.



OK Christ you can have your land back.




Yuki and Yoshikage have a Good Medicine generating moment.

Turn 67 starts and we recruit Teru!



Nothing bad can come of this at all.

New option in Owari to visit the traveling carnival! This gives +3 Score every time you do it, though it takes awhile to reset after you go.



I want Takuga's first province so I take it.







We'll retreat to the Ogre and Youkai haunted Hell hole we escaped from. Are you feeling bad for these guys yet?

Raccoon Guy and Naomasa take another piece of Mouri's last province and the first territory in Takuga's Hell island for the low low price of 600 troops. Permits. Permits are great.

Mouri attacks twice and my army is Exhausted and reclaims the entire province, though. But hey, lose what was free... basically break even.

Cutscene.









D'aww. Suzume Character Clears with this.

Turn 68 begins and we impose a levy on the former Takuga province. We give Yoshikage a +Defense Textbook to cap him at 6 Defense, and we give Teru +7 Affection in Gifts and talk to her.





Affection up to Normal! We boost her basic melee to 120% damage. Then we give her +3 Affection in items and... oh no! We're out of gifts!

Oh well. We search for a treasure in the former Takuga province.



Strictly useful, not too exciting especially since Yoshikage kicked our economy in the ass. Turn 68 ends.

Before you make any in-roads towards conquering Hell Island, you get a special option.




Shutting the gate denies you access to prisoners, National power and forcing a levy among other things so it's not very exciting. Ryouma and Takuga just swear revenge and vanish for the rest of the game. I was really expecting a much more bleak outcome as they realize they've been left to die again and maybe a million ogres have built up in their absence. Oh well. You don't even get Satisfaction from the women that come through for Rance.

Start of turn cutscene with Magic.






Gonna take Takuga in a 1-2 punch. Takes a few reloads because Gon has a nasty habit of using the Foot Soldier special attack Fellow Soldier's Revenge to one-shot one of your guys based on his missing health. Despite their colossal Stacks, Gon and Ryouma otherwise don't deal very good damage. I think they've been weighted to not be impossible to defeat, just difficult to wear down.





Takuga can't believe that I'm chasing them into Hell Island.



Spite? Rance? What? No way.

I use Rance and Uruza together in the next battle.



And it leads to Uruza's Character Clear and H-Scene. Along with +5 Satisfaction for 146!

Oh. Did you forget your army, Takuga?









The Kenshin/Uruza combo is just mean. Any unit with 3 flags or less is rendered useless after the first round of turns! The great thing about the Loot ability Teru(and any Foot Soldier) can use is that it's free money in one-sided encounters. 80% damage is just fine for a Foot Soldier that can spare the Action Flags to attack in the first place and the income is pretty good. I get 1000 gold for two hits from Teru.

Defeated, Ryouma refuses to surrender. And then a bad situation turns worse...




Cursed in the womb while her mother was pregnant, Ryouma was born a hermaphrodite. Her parents died at an early age and the townspeople picked on and, well, gang-raped her. She went berserk and killed many of them, ending up exiled to Hell Island.

And then the Ogres decide to teach her a lesson for escaping and making fools of them. I always think of Takuga as the Hard Luck Kids and well, now I'm sad in this game of rapists with hearts of gold.

Rance and company rush into the invaded Takuga command camp to fight some Ogres. Very easy fight, especially since Ogres can only melee and they've trapped half their number behind the other half. Hit the Blues with ranged and hit the Reds until they die.



Ryouma is recovered but 3G blocks Rance from, you know, the usual.



Although you can capture Gon, Mine and Yuzuru in battle, Ryouma is tagged against it. Fortunately you will automatically capture all four of them when Takuga House falls. You cannot recruit Gon, Mine or Yuzuru without recruiting Ryouma first. Capturing them beforehand makes any fights easier since they're the only good Takuga units. We impose a levy on our new province and call Turn 69.

When I played, I switched between Leazus and Zeth each time, So I ended up with the mage girl, uruza, the ninja girl and Maria, that seemed to work pretty well.

Magic(the third Zeth unit) isn't anything special but the last Leazus unit is really out-standing. They're the only Knight in the game and they have the strength of a Warrior on Offense and some of the defense of a Foot Soldier on Defense. That is, they don't start with Guard Meter but they can still use Ally Guard to build it and they take hits well. The Knight also has Healthy Body by default(all Replenishment Costs are 1) and a unique move, Knight's Charge, where they deal double damage to any stack with more current HP than they have.

Maria can easily recruit a second Cannon unit for you. Cannon units are like Muskets except they can fire from the back-row and learn a move that lets them shoot for double damage at the cost of two flags instead of one. They're really expensive but they're better than Muskets in every way. 3-4 Flags each, too! The Ninja Girl is really useful due to her unique move, Sonic Shuriken, which typically lets her attack twice at the start of any battle and burst down a soft caster. She's also a solid Ninja available very early in the game(aside from such distasteful options as rushing Mouri really early or taking on Iga as one of your Gourd Houses.) Her multiple H-scenes tend to be funny as well. Aside from Uruza, Leazus beats Zeth into the ground.

I kind of hastily did these next turns and they're a bit jumbled because I was trying actions out to see what triggers the conversations needed to uncurse Mouri. Fortunately, nothing terrible important happens so it barely matters. The enemy attacking between turns isn't even significant because the same cycle of events happens every time.

1) My Battle Permit Commanders take 1/3 or 2/3 of Houjou or Mouri land.

2) They come to take it back. I scout Mouri's army and engage if Kiku or Chinu are there and let them have it without a fight if they aren't or it's Houjou.

3) Repeat infinitely, the enemy will never break through the stall and even if they attack twice I have 15+ Guys to defend with.

Cutscenes do happen so let's watch 'em.

Turn 70 starts with an automatic scene where Suzume helps Magic learn how to wrangle a man.








I got a gift in an attack or defense and give it to Meru for another +4 Affection, getting her to 7/7 again. Let's talk to her!








Boys are gross!

Then I search for a treasure!



An upgraded version of the earlier -cost. I actually have a good idea for this one. Turn 70 ends.

Turn 71 begins. I use an action to recruit an old friend.



His stats are still great and he's a fantastic meat wall that can strike, but his Cost 8 sucks. We give him -4 Cost and call it a good deal. I also dismiss Takigawa as I'm finally nearing the Commander Cap and I notice I haven't used him for anything in about 10 turns. I also cut Goemon's troops down to 1(same as I did before I dismissed Takigawa) to get some gold but keep him around for Searches and Scouts until I absolutely need the space.

Blow another Action Fan looking for a Dungeon in Mouri's land. This one is important for unlocking a conversation and for uncursing Mouri.

Here is where things get a bit wishy-washy. I have to recruit Ryouma from prison for the Mouri un-curse.






I talk to her but Ryouma will have 3 scenes, either activated by talking to her or between turns where she'll demand you free Mine, Yuzuru and Gon. I free Gon for now because he's a good Foot Soldier.



Here are the Mine and Yuzuru scenes but I actually don't free them. I may later if Ryouma gets mad and leaves and that breaks the whole uncursing Mouri thing.




Anyways once you have actually discovered Road to Hades and recruited Ryouma, you can ask her about Mouri's curse. This is the first time in this playthrough that 3G demonstrates that he is in fact part telephone.






During all this we stumble our way to Turn 71 and Magic sneaks into Rance's room to seduce him!






Awkwardly masturbating in front of him, it works! Rance finishes her off and we get a Satisfacation boost.

Somewhere during all this nonsense I use four Fans somehow and literally forgot. I'm pretty sure one was a Satisfacation bonus to give everybody +50 Max Troops.

So we'll start the next update at Turn 72, 2/3 Action Fans left. I've recruited Ryouma and Gon, found some treasure, discovered the Road to Hades and talked to Ryouma about uncursing Mouri. And used a Satisfaction Bonus or two to give all my troops +Max HP.

Oh, actually I reload at Turn 71 with 0/3 fans and end turn. Houjou attacks, stomp them. Mouri attacks three times and I scout Chinu... after all, surely this monotonous task will require an incredible deal of loading/reloading grinding, right?



Boing! 2/3 Maids acquired!

OK we actually start Turn 72 and use the "Ask Ryouma about Mouri" option and we get to the current point of Turn 72 and 2/3 Fans. We recruit Chinu from prison.





6s and 7s in everything, 5 flags, starts with the improved AoE Miko Heal and can use a Preparation spell for AoE enemy damage. And comes with 1000 Stack! I think I'm in love.

Here are Gon, Ryouma, Yuzuru and Mine's stats just because.



He has improved Guard building(120% a turn or better) and Fellow Troops' Revenge for dealing surprise damage when near death. His stats are great for fighting. 7 Attack, 7 Defense, 5 Speed. Flags are slightly low and he can only fight but that's to be expected from a quiet guy.



Ooof Ryouma has above-average stats but is really dull for a Ninja unit. You'd have to rush her Affection and give her some new abilities and a passive.



Mine has solid 5s or 6s in everything and can even help you with diplomacy with Negotiate 5 and Construction 5. She starts with Charge(spend a Flag and a turn to buff self with +70% attack) but 3 Flags kinda sucks. Gamble Charge is a chance to deal random damage between 50-200% of a regular melee if you like reloading a lot or living dangerously.



Yuzuru has a good bunch of 6s, an odd 4 in Defense, slightly worse bureaucrat stats and 4 Action Flags, as well as Charge and Gamble Charge again. Above-average.

Overall I'd say Takuga would be a fantastic House to clear for establishing the core of your army if you wanted to do say, an Ashikaga -> Mouri -> Takuga -> Akashi clear. Mix them up as you like, but bear in mind that you're clearing three Gourd Houses immediately by heading west with Ashikaga/Mouri/Akashi. Between Takuga and Mouri's Daughters you'll end up with a hell of a stable, though. If Mouri doesn't crush you.

Fighting Mouri several times throughout the reloads, I can say that his HP seems to only grow if he was KO'd before and that he always deals 200 HP to any unit any time he attacks. It can be reduced to 150 by Defense Boost. This makes Mouri vastly more dangerous early game where he will hit units for 1/3 or 1/2 of their Stack every time and a bit of a joke late game. But just to keep you on your toes, every other unit in Mouri's House scales fantastically well into late game and I hear that Mouri becomes a regular bad ass army unit when uncursed so if it's late game, bam, another unique Commander to stomp your ass in.

Alrighty! Two Action Fans left! But, I've been reading up on the conditions for uncursing Mouri and Character Clearing the Daughters and I think I need to catch Kiku first. TIME FOR SOME RELOADING FUN TIMES! ... ... ... after six attempts I realize that the defenders Mouri is using for this turn are set in stone and Kiku isn't among them. It will probably be easier to scout his 2-3 attacks between turns and poach her there.

So we look around... hmm. One of the three Houjou provinces has let itself be beaten down to 3/4 taken by my Permit Holders. We move in to finish the job.




They send guys to try and stop us. I guess. Sweep sweep, sweep sweep.

Losing the war against Oda, Souun is burdened with troubling news...






Souun vanishes and Houjou elect a temporary Lord, maintaining their At-War status with us. If this wasn't my second playthrough I'd get Ran out of jail and follow the plot prompts to save Souun, it's pretty easy. However, this will change my route to Ran's Story if I do that now. I'll make a back-up save and probably come back to it after I clear the game on True History route.

We impose a levy and end Turn 72. I've been feeding +Attack Books to Yukihime and she's gone from a pathetic 1 to a reasonable 4 so far. Not bad.

With Souun gone, Komatsu abandons Houjou as well! Houjou now has no unique commanders to oppose me with.



Alright, I can't actually decurse or Character Clear the Daughters if I don't catch Kiku before I defeat Mouri House and/or uncurse Mouri. Whatever, all I know is that I need to catch her next. So I decide to stick a save at the end of Turn 72 and end turn, see if Mouri attacks, scout it and defend. If Mouri doesn't attack, I can attack them and scout it for Kiku as well, then reload.

We tossed some losers out of jail to make it easier to capture Kiku so I Pokkuru Rance to 59.



5 Action Flags and 7s in relevant Combat Stats. Leaves Hiding is a general Ninja skill that burns a Flag to get +70% Defense. The rest is standard Ninja Fare but pretty strong. We'll recruit her!





Rance and Kiku duel. In text, so it's a lot of back and forth with Kiku trying to disarm Rance and Rance barely evading. Rance eventually realizes that Kiku's offense is fast and hard to counter but predictable: she always goes for the throat, so to speak. So he lets her wrap her chain around Chaos and then lets go when she tries to disarm him, causing her to over pull and lose her balance. Then he runs up and socks her in the stomach, KOing her.




A better interview than usual! Rance removes her underwear and fools around with her but she wakes up before he can brandish the Hyper Weapon.




Recruited! We use our first Action Fan to chat with her again.





I need to Character Clear Kiku before I clear Mouri House or uncurse Mouri. Hmm. I can give her and the other Maids +Affection Gifts but I barely have any and they're random drops.

Oh, Kenshin is at 7/7 Affection thanks to the Brute Photo. Let's chat with her.







Uwooooo! We improve her Melee to 110%.

Hmm. Third Fan... you can't normally declare war on the One Eye House. You have to watch a scene.





So we need to fight a Dungeon style Boss battle to defeat a wild Youkai called Seiitai Shogun. He is always an encounter in this piece of Houjou land so if you're squatting them, probably conquer this bit before the others. Turn 73 comes to an end.

Doesn't actually yield anything but funny to see. We reload to save an Action Fan and use Rance's Satisfaction Bonus 150 to give every Commander +3 Affection Points. That simplifies the Maid issue a bit! But...



Too many dudes! We cut Goemon and Naomasa down to 1 unit to cash in and then dismiss them. I'll miss you, Tanuki Butt Enthusiast!

We'll give Kiku the only gift we have for +2 Affection, putting her at 6/7. We'll get her to 7/7 the old fashioned way... by using an Action Fan to talk to her for a generic scene!



Bingo! We talk to her again at 7/7 for an actual cutscene.





Well considering that you and your sisters were the most dangerous part of his army and his damage is fixed... of course we can't actually go pop Mouri yet because Gourds. We're out of fans anyway so that's Turn 74. I removed my Battle Permits earlier to make farming Kiku faster but now my army is fuck-huge and I can issue four of them, all but the Diviner one. I want to accelerate the squatting process.

I think they're out of comps entirely. Also Chinu's Poison AoE is really strong. If I combo'd her with Natori I think that'd be 50% damage to every enemy unit.

Automatic scene at the start of turn! Katsuie was at 7/7 Affection so he gets a Power Up, we teach him Loot.





The carnival is back! We go with... 3G!





And I decide to take the second Houjou province so I can squat them in style and maximum profit. To defend their precious land they send the all-time worst unit Comp.

I took Kazusa 2000 for a very specific reason, and not just the great name!



Kazusa 2000 has a Treasure Search for Draft Papers. It starts at 10 and increases by 10 each time you take it up to 99 and can be repeated infinitely. Draft Paper is +100 Max Troops to a unit even beyond any Unit Limit they might have so farming this a half-dozen times or so is a pretty decent idea. Save the Papers for late game(1500+ troops) and turn Rance or somebody into a super army!

We impose a levy and end Turn 75.

Mouri and Houjou can't attack more often than my Permit Units can push them back. Infinite stall achieved! I mostly bother to Defend just so I can have Teru and Katsuie use Loot to boost my income. I guess the Prisoners and +Max Troops are good reasons too. Oh! And the random item drops! So I guess you shouldn't use Permits as an excuse to not fight. In fact, it's a good way to provoke multiple enemy attacks because Houses you are at war with are more likely to fight to save their land than to invade yours.





Well now that last setup wasn't even fair. Ho Ho ho.

At the start of Turn 76... well... Magic falls for a trap and something something Rance. Satisfaction 156!

I toss 5 prisoners including the unique Musket folks from Tanegashima from way back. Sorry dudes, already hitting the Commander Cap and Muskets sorta suck! Pokkuru Rance to 60. Then we'll check out an event over at Kazusa 2000.



If you're using Tengu Hermit every few turns you can battle Pandas at Kazusa 2000. It's an easy battle and every time you do it his max troops increase by 500. Animal troops are usually weak but the guy's base stats are all 7s and this event makes it very easy to simply abuse the high base damage of a ridiculous 2000+ stack Animal army. Go pandas!

We search Kazusa 2000 for a new Dungeon.



It is actually very boring the entire gimmick is the same battle eight times in a row but each time the adorable puppy is 10 levels stronger.






We get several random things including +1 Negotiation, +1 Action, +1 Speed(Textbook 2, exceeds Cap of 6) and a random item that only drops when you're Character Clearing Teru, the Hallucination of Death medicine. It's a plot item and not useable so I wonder when it'll come up but hey, we got it. We give Sanada the extra Action Flag, Rance a bump to 7 Speed and Yoshikage the +Negotiate so he can reach the cap of 9. We also give Ikkyu a random drop +Defense textbook and increase his troops for once since we may actually want to use him for Witty Comeback again later.

Aside from everybody gaining +1 Level as per usual...



Rance gets so mad about this waste of time that he gains an extra level on top of it! Turn 76 ends.
