"Leaves Hiding" is hilarious. It makes it sound like the ninja is in a hiding spot and comes out of it, but I guess they probably mean "hagakure", a camouflage technique using leaves to hide in wooded areas. Using the same words for a clearer meaning would be "Hiding with Leaves".

I remember having similar misunderstandings with "Turn Undead" when I was new to D&D. You mean clerics, like, turn themselves into zombies or something?

I think you can only do that if your priest channels "negative energy" (i.e. you spontaneously convert spells into cause wounds spells). If you channel "positive energy" you can cause undead to flee or instantly disassemble, but not control them.

Yeah, Good aligned clerics can "turn" undead, returning them to the grave or destroying them where as Evil aligned ones like I always played can "control" undead instead, conducting them to go forth and evily ravage the living.

Houjou surprises me slightly...




I thought she left! She actually deals reasonable damage and is vaguely worth capturing. Komatsu's stats are only above average but she has a passive that increases her Max Troops every turn so over time she'll have a colossal Stack at the end-game, especially if you rush Houjou House early. But we don't catch her and that's it for between turns.

At the start of Turn 77 Rance flirts with death.




Not much comes of it yet but the seeds of madness are planted. We got a +4 Affection Gift from a defense so we toss it to Teru, who goes from 3/7 to 7/7. We'll talk to her with our first Action Fan.






Things alternate between Rance and Teru vision during this one.
Rance has a good time!
And somehow, Teru does too.



We hit Satisfaction 161 and Character Clear Teru, boosting her Defense from 6 to 7. Unfortunately she disses Rance's manhood and it seems all we did was awaken her fetish.

Oh! I've been waiting for this, Satisfacation 160 is like Satisfaction 50 and is a set chance to increase your Action Fans! We use our second Action Fan to unlock Four Fans per turn! I believe the next one is 250 Satisfaction for Five Fans and that's it. I think you can also start the game with three Action Fans if you have enough New Game+ Score to spend.

Third Action fan is used to Search 10 our first repeatable Draft Paper and that's Turn 77. We can use all four Action Fans starting on Turn 78.

Boy this LP sure is getting a bit faster to do now that between-turn Defenses are so trivial they're not even worth screen-capping. No matter who attacks the outcome is the same: I left-click them until they die without regards for strategy. The Battle Permits have made me so efficient at stalling that I'm able to pick my fights with weakened opponents and use my extra gold to increase everybody's Max Troops. But this is a great thing because you want to enter the End Game with a few 2000+ units. 1500+ is the minimum for your best units. 1000+ is the minimum for using somebody even in a support role and not having them blown away by incidental AoE or ranged attacks.

I've cleared most of the Dungeons in the world and found most of the treasure and picked up most of the optional Commanders I had my eyes on. Aside from seeing how the Mouri Uncursing happens, clearing Road to Hades(18 floors!), defeating Masamune and getting the foursome everything is going exactly as planned. We'll be doing all these things as best we can in these last 10 turns and then... The Plot. Oh, but we'll save One Eye House for the end-game. Instead of fucking with them we'll be squatting the last few Gourd Houses so that we can defeat them as soon as the Plot starts but before the Plot reaches them.



Between Turns we get an automatic Ieyasu cutscene. Basically once you recruit Ieyasu he has multiple scenes to recruit any of his sons that are missing.

Sengoku Rance OST - A Calmly Wind







Hanzou has 6s and a 5 in combat stats but we already have more interesting Ninjas and he doesn't even have assassinate. We'll dismiss his troops and dismiss him later, undoing that heart-warming scene above! Pursuit Battle is described as "let's the unit continue attacking after invading an enemy territory" or something, I imagine it prevents them from being Exhausted in a single battle but I've never used it.

Turn 78 starts! We give Chinu a +2 Affection Item and then we spend our first Fan talking to Kenshin! We'll give her +100 Max Troops as a power-up.




And the fourth Fan talking to Ieyasu who crept up to 7/7 Affection from combats.




Ieyasu Character Clears and we give him a new passive. This one is important for people doing outstanding at the game. Clear Bonus gives you +2 Score if the character that has it is in your roster when you beat the game. It stacks, so the better you're doing and the more you can swing the more Score you can carry over!

Honda is hit 7/7 Affection from battles as well! We'll talk to him too!






Fourth Fan! We'll take on Seiitai Shogun so we can attack the One Eye House later without hold-up. Remember, you need to capture a specific piece of Houjou land for this event to be accessible.









Guarded by a row of Ogres and flanked by adorable Piggies, the Shogun is a reasonably difficult boss battle, particularly if you rush One Eye House or have not been clearing Dungeons en masse. He has a Preparation phase that can't be interrupted before he blasts everybody with a 200+ damage AoE! If you can burst the Ogres down quickly and have a solid line of high-leveled folks(Ieyasu/Rance/Kenshin could practically do this fight themselves) it's doable. Defeating Seitaii Shogun grants you a cosmetic item that lets you declare war on One Eye House!

We end Turn 78 and do some defenses, during one I send Rance and Kenshin out together and get a Second Playthrough cutscene!



Once you're in New Game+ you can unlock alternate routes that dynamically adjust the Plot. Recruit Kenshin and Ai, boost Kenshin's Affection to Trust, witness this riceball scene before going into battle and you'll unlock a cutscene where Rengoku presents Nobunagula with the Emperor's Headband! This unlocks an option to go on a picnic with Kenshin, a scene that will change your playthrough route to Kenshin's, where you help her become the Emperor of Japan!

Turn 79! We declare war on Akashi House!





Then we just sort of fart around and search for Draft Papers twice. First is Search 20, second is Search 30.

Oh, the carnival is back! We go with Suzume.



And that's it. That was Turn 79. Whoosh.

Between turns one of the Permit holders stampedes through Akashi land and triggers a cutscene.

Automatic cutscene at the start of Turn 80 with Sanada, boosting him from 6 to 7 Affection.

Turn 80 begins. You can argue through Akashi's suicidal pride with Negotiate 30 and make them surrender but it denies you a necessary recruitment opportunity(for attacking One Eye House, just trust me for now.) It is a colossal time-saver depending on how you want to play things out, though! More on that later.

Sanada rose to 7/7 Affection after that last scene so we'll talk to him again.



Sanada: ... You sure are young.

And... scene! Sanada Character Clears and we improve his Bow Attacks to 110% damage. No way in Hell we're dumping Fuurinkazan for +2 Score.

Akashi got Battle Permit'd down to their last territory but I have the benefit of foresight here. I unequip all of my Permits so I can let them reclaim some land later and "attack" them.








Akashi House is easy to Defend against but they can hand you three automatic defeats on Offense. You need to see all three and a cutscene a turn later to get the most benefit from defeating them militarily so Akashi House is very time-consuming to deal with for a one province wuss army. There is a character that requires being defeated in battle three times to Character Clear(I didn't recruit her this time) so this is a great way to cheese those losses.

Third Action Fan. Let's try the Road to Hades.



18 Floors so we'll open with our B-Team.



The first 6 floors are gimmes.



Daidaara is on Floor 7 and is a push-over. Defeating him should uncurse Mouri on Mouri's between-turn.



I guess I needed to keep Ryouma this entire time but now she has expended all usefulness so I can dismiss her and Gon.






The rest of Road to Hades is surprisingly tame. The floors are almost always three monsters or less, often one. They very slowly build from early to mid to late game monsters but never at a rate that might threaten you so it'll be one late game monster at worst. However...




HOPY FUCK this thing has 7,777 HP and AoEs everyone for 200 damage each turn. I wipe out here and reload. I then clear Road to Hades down to Floor 17 and retreat. This will let me start at Floor 2 next time and gives me a nice haul of random loot from 17 floor clears. If I wanted to farm Ogre Bones, Stat Books and Affection Gifts I could just clear down to Floor 17 each time and retreat. 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 etc... dozens of floor clears for random loot.

I toss Kiku a +3 Affection Gift to raise her to 5/7 Trust. Fourth fan... Uruza has risen to 7/7 Affection easily from Battles and the Character Clear bonus for entering battle with Rance. I talk to her with a generic scene and give her the +2 score passive as well. Since it costs an Action Fan at 7/7 to acquire or swap this passive and I only lose 1 score a turn this is pretty much always at least a +1 gain. Turn 80 ends.

This unlocks an option to go on a picnic with Kenshin, a scene that will change your playthrough route to Kenshin's, where you help her become the Emperor of Japan!

Jeez, it's sort of amazing how much stuff there is in this game. I'm probably gonna give it another playthrough once you finish the LP, see if I can screw up less this time. I sort of let the plot reach like, more than half of the nations, it was pretty bad.

Also, is that seiitai shogun guy the bearded dude from Zombie Nation?

Ahahahaha he's almost adorable. Akashi House attacks and we let them reclaim a bit of land for the purpose of dragging the war out.

Automatic cutscene between turns, the long-promised Isoroku H-scene. Satisfaction 166!

We'll chat with Chinu for a generic +1 Affection.



Now that she's at 7/7, we'll chat with her again!



That was fast! No Satisfaction for some reason.

Mouri is uncursed and we've H'd Chinu and Teru. Kiku promised to H after we defeat Mouri House which will happen closer to Turn 90. Kiku won't make this promise unless we capture and chat her up before defeating Mouri House, obviously. This should be the set-up needed for the foursome.

To round out the rest of my turn I pop the Panda Hunt in Kazusa 2000 again to get Tengu Guy to 3000 Pandas and clear Road to Hades down to Floor 17 again, setting my next start at Floor 3 and getting loads of bones as promised. Turn 81 is over.

Like I've said there is just really nothing to see here. Ninja units with 500 Stack? UH OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BONK.

Akashi attacks and I defend, remembering that you can also trigger the required losses on Defense. Good, good. 2/4 of the way done!









Kazemaru seems to be trying to reach out to the Nuhe, unaware that they're violently dying to drive back Oda.

One interesting bit is that Mouri attacks and we can see his uncursed stats.




Uncursing Mouri actually makes him much more dangerous! His presence gives his side a morale boost, he knows Commander Charge, his troop Stack and stats are very powerful relative to how far you are in the game and his damage isn't capped at 200 a swing anymore!

At the start of turn we get an automatic scene with Isoroku. She has special scenes with Ikkyu and Choushin if you recruit them all together.

We give him Clear Bonus for another +2 Score!

I then cheese the next Akashi auto-loss by sending Choushin by himself. Since he won't actually enter battle there's no danger of him dying when he loses.









Harsh! We now just need to wait for Kazemaru to activate the next cutscene between turns, we don't want to actually invade and conquer Akashi House too early right now. Let's cheer ourselves up by talking to Sakakibara.



Hee hee. We teach him Loot to continue improving our income from Foot Soldiers in blow-out battles. I also re-equip my Battle Permits since I've gotten all three auto-losses from Akashi House. I use my last Fan to clear Road to Hades again. So many bones! Turn 82 ends.

Since I got rid of Gon and Ryouma I release Mine and Yuzuru along with three generics and Pokkuru Rance to 64 before I actually end my turn. I also got a semi-rare consumable in my last Hades grind.



Might be cool, particularly for end-game.

As expected, Akashi House activates it's last cutscene.







They also attack once.



This is the lowest end of what they can do... sometimes their army is this pathetic, sometimes it's below average with a few hundred Stack a unit and occasionally Kazemaru shows up with an above-average unit.

Start of the turn, Isoroku corners Ikkyu.






We go to the item shop!




That last item is incredible! I have a vague idea who to save it for but if all else fails I can give it to Ranmaru in the end game once I've capped her Stack.

Then talk to Natori and improve her Bow Attacks to 110%.





Then chat to Rance(My Slave Sill option at Owari) to increase his Max Troops by 100. And we finish off by clearing Road to Hades again.

Automatic scene with Ikkyu who has hit 7/7 Affection from battle use.




What a great guy harghahlrglahrghgarhgar. He Character Clears and we teach him Clear Bonus for +3 Score overall. He can learn some unique moves which are really nice such as Advance Time(kills 3 Turns in a battle) or Battle Morale Down 1(Adjust battle meter) or improving his Tactician nonsense. But at this point I'm so far ahead I'm just farming free Score.

Turn 84 begins! Chat with Rizna for a generic scene and teach her a unique move, A Cutter. Deals 50% damage but deals bonus damage against Monks and Monsters. It's an AoE which is great but it consumes all Action Flags. Chat with Kenshin for a generic scene and +100 Max troops. Magic is at 6/7 Affection so we chat with her once for a generic scene, then chat to her again at 7/7 for a cutscene.





This Character Clears Magic and gives us an item that looks like a Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy. I give it to Yukihime who is still in the Hate stage of her Character Clear and because I am a bad man. We also get Satisfaction 170! Turn 84 ends!

Turn 85! We give Honda +5 Affection in Gifts and grab Rance's Satisfaction 170 bonus, giving every Commander +3 Affection again. Then we talk to Honda!






OH NO NOT MY BUTT! This Character Clears Honda and we give him +100 Max Troops. Then we clear Road to Hades again. Yuki's at 7/7 so we'll chat with her!





You get a choice whether to rape Yuki immediately for +5 Satisfaction(but she'll leave permanently) or to wait it out. There's no H scene for the Rape so you'll know you done goofed. We wait it out, teach her Miko Storm 1 and end Turn 85. ALMOST THERE GUYS ALMOST THERE.

Turn 86 begins with an automatic cutscene with Ai, boosting her to Normal Affection. We teach her Battle Strategy 3, the best move for spreading the most buffs!






We go to the Item Shop again and I think I've bought all of Purupet's unique items because he's just offering +Stat Textbook 2s. I grab two +Attack and cap Rance at 9 Attack, gahahaha. Then I toss Ai a +3 Affection Gift. Yoshikage is at 7/7 but he's already Character Cleared so I won't be talking to him. I do want to mention that Yoshikage rules because once he is Character Cleared you can chat with him and he'll decide he needs to convince the other Commanders in Oda to rally behind Rance, giving random +Affection! Yoshikage is a useful dude.

We clear Road to Hades again! We'll want to start as close as we can to the last floor to stand a chance of beating that Super Boss. Not to mention that grinding more Ogre Bones is more +Stat Textbook 2s, allowing us to radically power up our army. Then we give Chinu a +2 Affection Gift that drops. Then we chat with her twice for two generic scene boosts to 7/7 and end Turn 86.

Turn 87! We throw ten losers out of jail and Pokkuru Rance to 66. Then we use two Action Fans to Search 40 for another Draft Paper, clear the Road to Hades again and give Tengu Guy a +3 Affection Gift. He's at 6/7 Affection but since we have both him and Yuki in our army we can get a special scene so we talk to him.




Zoom! that was Turn 87! So close!

Turn 88! Tengu Guy is at 7/7 so we chat with him again.




Character Clear, +100 Troops and he gives Rance his porn! Bros for life. Chat with Kenshin, generic scene, +100 Troops. Clear Road to Hades again. Panda Hunt again. Turn 88 ends. After several defenses Turn 89 starts with an automatic cutscene.






And thus Rance and Yuki have consensual sex. No Satisfaction gained but Affection up to Trust and we improve her Bow Attacks to 110% damage.

FINALLY! Turn 89! Next turn... EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL! So from here on out we're gonna clear out Houses whether they've got Gourds or not because what the fuck else can go wrong?! But before that we give Yuki +7 Affection in gifts and immediately talk to her again!





This Character Clears Yuki and we improve her Intelligence from 6 to 7. Three Fans left. Let's take some land.



2/3 territory taken! Let's take the province!



Surprised Kazemaru doesn't show up. Toot toot, steamroll!







Mustache Mode is great but it doesn't let you recruit Kazemaru. We reload and do the Rance thing.



Rance then goes on a tour of Akashi, a land that lost 70% of it's army when Mouri attacked. So he consoles the widows. Satisfaction 174! Then we head to prison and recruit Kazemaru.



All of his stats are 4s, with a 3 in Attack as a Warrior. Ugh. He doesn't know any improved moves or passives and his statesmanship sucks. Why are we recruiting him? Well, it's mandatory for a little something against the One Eye House and he can be dramatically improved. Let's work on that a bit.



OH BALLS I don't have enough Search since so much of my army is Exhausted from attacking for once. Fine, we'll go to the Hot Spring to finish this turn! Satisfaction 179 and Sill's Healing Power improves to 40 troops a turn. Turn 89 ends... hold on to your asses, ass-holders.

You know, experimenting with it a lot, I think Chinu's Poisoning attack deals 50% of the Enemy's Current HP. To all Enemy Units. Holy shit. What a Miko Maid!

And now... as Nobunagula's private Ninjas steal the Akashi Gourd and return it to him... The Plot.

















The scene ends with Nobunagula ordering Rengoku to do something unknown.
