Increases everyone's Defense.
Before we plottinue, we have some stuff to do.
With Magicant completed, the Your Sanctuary locations no longer provide a full heal.
I'll skip most of the grindy setup, but now that we've finished Fire Spring, all of the enemies here flee from us. It's easy to approach them from behind and get greenswirls. 007 spends his first turn Spying to see if anyone has a present to steal, then we flee. Star Pendant #1.
Problem is, Major Psychic Psychoes are almost impossible to find by themselves. There's usually a Soul Consuming Flame or minor Psychic Psycho nearby to join the fray -- meaning that for half of these battles, the computer isn't even looking to see if I'd earn a Star Pendant. It's looking for a damn-near-worthless PSI Caramel instead.
Eventually I realize it's faster to just hit Auto-Battle for every fight and sweep the enemies out than it is to carefully spy and run away, in no small part because I can jam down the fast-forward button on my emulator and only need to slow it down once the battle is over. Star Pendant #2.
Hard to believe these are still supposed to be "rare" drops (at 4/128), but I'm churning through a lot of enemies here.
A couple of things happened. First, Snes hit level 98 (I'm churning through a
lot of enemies here), so I took a break from farming Star Pendants.
Then I got called away to run some IRL errands at this point.
When I resumed my game, I went outside the Fire Spring and fought a few dozen Chomposaurs. Since Chomposaurs start with power shields, I went back to Spy-and-run tactics, which eventually netted me the Chomposaur's 1/128 drop: the Magic Fry Pan, for Gufin.
Of course, I didn't have my screencap software running from the break I took before, so I didn't get the 007-steals-a-rare-item shot.
Anyway, the Magic Fry Pan has lower attack power than the Holy Fry Pan, but gives a
substantial boost to Gufin's Guts. Since it's an equipment-modified boost it doesn't effect her maximum HP, but it does help her hang on with 1 HP if she takes mortal damage.
Then we stuff Snes full of Rock Candy dipped in sugar again. Here's a before shot...
And an after. The whole point was to get his HP and PP up into the four-digit numbers; check the graphic glitch on his meter in the lower-left. The game tracks the totals correctly, they just don't show up on the meters like they should until his HP or PP drop into the triple digits.
Gufin catches up. See how huge those Guts are?
007 got the least boosts from Rock Candy because, well, he needs it least. His Speed is back down to "mediocre" because I replaced his Rabbit's Foot with a Star Pendant.
Shit, of course, was only level 95 when everyone else was 99, and took a while to catch up the rest of the way. His stats may look pretty good, but remember he's eaten almost as much Rock Candy as Snes at this point, and all of his RARE L@@K!!! equipment gives some boost or another.
OH THANK CHRIST
Right, where were we?
...oh. This is new.
