Guildenstern built a little roof over the well, and team effort filled it.

This will be a nice little garden once I plant some flowers and the trees grow. Doom crafted the platforms and planters, Guild did the background brickwork.

It's a fishin' shack.

Fishing is not a thing you can do in this game, but eventually goldfish spawn in the lake to complete the image.

The tiny fish statue was my addition.

Two kegs. You can't drink all day unless you start in the mornin'.

The well is connected to the new reservoir, whynot

The entrance to my bridge.

And the bridge itself. It's uh... not done yet.  :nyoro~n:

The skybridge drops me quite a ways across the map. Right by the entrance to the structure Skeletron appears on, really.

Lyrai told me not to go in, but I told her not to tell me not to go in, so I'm going in.

There are books. I take them.

There's a lightswitch to ceiling fixtures. Gotta get me some of those.

There are obvious traps.

There's a crystal heart.

There's a giant skull that comes spinning out of goddamn nowhere that does four-digit damage to you for an instant kill.

Seriously.

Hey Skeletron, nice dungeon. I think I'll take it.

Holding the switch in active inventory lets me see the wire connecting it to the lamp, but there's no way for me to harvest the wire itself.

I clear out some roof and install a platform so I have a nice wide-open area to fight Skeletron in.

So if I beat Skellingtron I won't get murdered by the Dungeon Guardian? Is that what you mean?

Wait, who?

Actually this is the easiest fight so far. King Slime is too dumb to intentionally drop through that wooden platform, so I can run around and shoot him without much fear of reprisal from him or the slimes he spawns. Sometimes he'll run into one of the solid platforms I hung a torch from and drop through, but that's not common enough to be a problem.

And for no readily explained reason King Slime had a ninja trapped inside.

I realized an important thing last time: Skeletron's hands have their own HP totals.

Turns out that without them, he's a chump.

A falling star whizzed right by him during the fight. These things obliterate anything they touch as they land, so it would have been pretty great if it'd fallen on Skeletron for the KO.

No giant murderdeathskulls so far.

Swinging traps, though.

The clothier -- previously the guy under Skeletron's curse -- finds an apartment just as I discover another bound-and-gagged dungeon hostage.

She's a mechanic. She sells wire and trap goods, the latter of which I've looted plenty of already.

Perhaps she should have escaped the dungeon instead of just wandering back and forth in skeleton-infested hallways. I guess she was right, and it was just a matter of time.

Enemies here drop golden keys, which can be used to unlock golden chests.

Inside is a handgun.

I escape back to base to get out of a melee I was losing.

The dead mechanic is replaced by a live one.

And the clothier has moved into my dining room.

...you were quite the ME killer a couple of times, you jerk.

He sells clothes, which make you look different and do nothing else.

...there's a worse version of Skeletron out there?

The merchant sells a safe now.

I head up to the floating islands to use those golden keys.

I find a rubber balloon, covered in spikes because of the randomly-generated attribute. Not sure how that works, really.

The other holds a lucky horseshoe, which negates fall damage.

I've seen both of these items before, asking Kyle about what stuff I can build. So I know I need an Obsidian Skull out of that obsidian Doom showed me how to make.

The Obsidian Skull and Lucky Horseshoe combine into the Obsidian Horseshoe, which does the job of both items in one equip slot: I'm now immune to fire blocks (like Meteorite, which hurts if you touch it) and fall damage. Likewise, the Cloud in a Bottle and Red Balloon combine into the Cloud in a Balloon, which does the job of both items in one equip slot: individual jumps are higher, and I can still double-jump.

So now I can jump high, double jump, rocket into the air, and not have to worry about the long drop on the way down.

I can just run off the end of my sky bridge now.

The bones dropped by dungeon skeletons can be crafted into piano keys, so I build a concert hall. Looks a little bare now, but I'm working on it. I thinks some potted plants would look nice, don't you?

We'll do it again, but I can't run Mibbit and host a server at the same time. Friend me on Steam, I'm HamperedChef.

Inlet and outlet pumps? I can move water without draining it all downhill!

I'm in hell.

No, really.

There's new ore to be found here, though.

And a new furnace to smelt it in, which is kind of weird.

A demon dropped a voodoo doll of the Guide, though.

...aglet? A guardian aglet?

Another Cloud. This one's violent!

I have no idea what Doom is doing here.

I jazzed up Guild's creation a bit. Now the torches flash on and off alternately.

Something's wrong here. Nothing's flowing.

Welp, time to use my new mechanical deathtrap.

HOW DID YOU GUYS GET IN HERE

No sweat, other than the clothier dying horribly.

I think I'll move the dart traps around the well next time, since that's the only real obstacle to the waves of death. Not that it makes things particularly ineffective.

The new clothes guy moved into Doom's fishing shack. ( 9_9)

I'm always surprised at other people's bases.

I just build a small network of minimal-viable-housing and some treasure/crafting floors, atop a drop shaft into
the very mouth of hell itself
.

Yes and hell no, respectively.

I made the stuff in the box once for fun, then cannibalized it for parts and doing my own thing.

During this multiplayer session I... tear down my entire castle.

Meanwhile, Zara builds a treehouse.

As soon as everything comes down, the Blood Moon rises. All my former tenants, being too dumb to seek shelter, are rent asunder by zombies.

I go to harvest some more blue bricks, but am interrupted. Apparently King Slime digs this place and hates for me to excavate it.

pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew

pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew

Aaaaaaaaand he's stuck.

pew pew pew pew pew oh fuck it

This time he dropped ninja pants.

I buy a ruler to help block placement in rebuilding my castle. Presumably it would be more useful not at night, when I could see.

Another Blood Moon. I hide in my well and let the dart traps take care of it.

Zara planted a garden on the top of my new apartments, but did it with mud and jungle grass -- enough to make the game consider this a jungle biome. Doom informs me that if the music changes, the monsters spawned will change, too -- resulting in Man-Eaters lunging through the walls and killing my NPCs again.

Sorry, Zara.

Anyway, it took hours and hours, and most of you in the multiplayer with me tonight have seen it already, but for those of you who haven't... behold!

The far east edge tapers to a point. The blue bricks are salvaged from the dungeon, since actually crafting all of this stuff would just be tedious.

Apartments all in a row.

My room is still the nicest, since I'm the one building all this crap. Silver brick walls, yo.

New conservatory, note the arch of the greenhouse dome and new natural grass floors. Blinkroots are ugly, so I just let natural flowers grow and lit them with candles and chain lamps.

Below is the library, because the dungeon has a lot of books in it.

My concert hall. Still too bare for my tastes. It's a shame this game doesn't have a "curtains" item.

I have no idea what to do with this room yet. I'm just using the manequins here as storage so I don't have to use so many chests.

Left to right: taproom, kitchen, dining hall. Below is a storage closet.

The new workshop area, with storage up above. These two things are the main reason I come back inside, so they're always near the entrance.

The left entranceway. There's probably something fancy I can do with it, but now it's not even lighted.

The right entranceway. Dropping down from here leads to the shaft with the previous mausoleum.

The well, with new Goblin Army/Blood Moon countermeasures in place. On top are the controls for the door -- since I've never seen monsters use switches, I wired active/inactive blocks to this switch. Flip it and the active blocks become inactive, allowing you to enter...

Then flip this wallswitch to shut the monster-proof door.

Gonna call it a night without building off this wing of the castle yet. There's a closet with a chest for unused home decor items above, and a closet for wiring and tinkering gear below.

There's a long shaft upwards to reach the skybridge.

And finally, a room I have plans for but not the materials.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

Doom and I did a dungeon raid together, which turned out to be quite profitable. One such item was this shadow key, which according to Doom means I can now "really explore hell". I still haven't found any shadow chests or doors or anything this would unlock yet.

But I do have enough Hellstone for this lovely pickaxe forged from flames and magma.

It really chews through bricks and ores, although oddly dirt with grass on it takes several hits.

That is not what I want to see when I'm in hell.

The trick to mining Hellstone is to get above it and give the magma it leaves behind somewhere to go.

With this in mind I also forge myself a sword of flame.

I find a structure made of hellstone brick rather than the obsidian brick typical of the towers in hell, but there doesn't seem to be anything unusual inside. Just its construction materials.

And with that, I'm at maximum HP.

Sometimes getting hellstone is easy, such as when it's all within reach with a wall to keep the lava out.

Yet the item itself, which does little to prevent drowning, is practically useless.

So I've got the Light's Bane from boss corpses, the Blade of Grass from the jungle, the Muramasa from the dungeon, and the Fiery Greatsword from hell.

BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED, I AM

Wait what the fuck is a Demon Altar?

Those things I can't try to dislodge from the ground without hurting myself!

While I'm here, why not?

I remember when this guy caught me by surprise and killed me that one time.

It seems so long ago.

I forge the last piece of my Shadow gear. Now I have a couple of complete sets, including the Jungle gear I wrought around the time I was so laden with spores and vines from my trip to gather stuff for the Blade of Grass.

Those orbs I broke to summon the Eater again made a meteorite fall. On my skybridge.

I suspect this is Zara's work.

I spend some idle time bashing away at the corruption. It takes a long time to break it all up without using explosives, so I use a lot of explosives. Don't worry guys, I'll lick that taint yet.

The Brain is nowhere to be found, but killing one of these tiny pink slimes is worth a lot of money, up to a gold piece or two per. They're rare, but dropping gold is dropping a lot of money.

The floor here is lava. No, really.

The way through is inspired by Mission Impossible.

Doom is trying to grow cactuses in Brontocastleus. Brontocactusleus? Anyway, visible left in the neck area is my hallway of mannequins built to display armor sets I've assembled.

I discovered by accident what had already been spoilered for me in multiplayer.

I was traipsing around hell looking for shadow chests when I happened upon a Voodoo Demon. These guys fly around and shoot you like regular demons, and drop the Guide Voodoo Dolls I've picked up a couple of already.

I killed the demon. He dropped a voodoo doll.

Into the lava.

I got the message that Kyle had been killed, as you'd expect from having a working voodoo doll burned up to nothing.

I also got the message that the Wall of Flesh had awoken. Realizing I didn't have my screencap software running, I just logged out instead.

So eventually I'll fight the Wall of Flesh, having legit discovered that a destroyed Voodoo Doll summons him.

The new guide is named Wyatt, but if I'm going to fight the Wall at any point, he won't be after that.
