I'm willing to toss dental problems into the "Every World's Problem" basket. Yes, we're the only ones who can afford to actually get root canals instead of just pulling out the tooth with pliers and vodka or whatever, but god damn fuck teeth. They are the most traitorous body part.

Indeed. Especially since you can die from improperly dosed anesthesia.

Good luck, Brentei!

If you haven't had one before or in the last 5 years, they dope you up pretty good now. Just let them know if you feel anything.

I've had two, and the process was much less unpleasant than I was led to believe. If they hadn't both failed catastrophically I wouldn't be afraid of having another one if I had to.

So apparently the USPS is raising the postage rates for all international shipments on Sunday. Okay sure, postal rates go up all the time.

Only they don't usually go up 60% - 300%. With less than a week's warning.

Christ... joking aside, when did you guys turn into Greece? Shit like that is usually only seen in cratering economies. This is going to crush small businesses who depends on low-margin high-volume online sales. And even the big guys are doing drastic shit like taking down their entire inventory as we speak.

Got lucky as hell too. Just had Starr's Dad forward us a package last week that we could only get shipped to the US.

Yeah, they drugged me up so I couldn't feel jack. You'll be fine, Brentai.

The sound and hints of blood were still freaky as fuck, though.

...relax and hope you don't get a talkative dentist or assistant?

It would be horribly misleading to use the USPS as a representation of the US economy. They have a failing business model and are forced to directly compete with private post services without the backing of any government funding.

Except for the failing business model part.  They're billions in the black if you don't include being deliberated crippled by a last gasp of a Republican congress, forcing them to pay $5.5b every year to pre-fund pensions for 75 years.

I don't mean that they're in any way a real representation. I just mean that price increases of 50+% for a basic government service is something that is normally only seen in crisis economies. Especially when coupled with NO WARNING.

Oh and before anyone panics, please note that this only applies to PARCELS. Letter postage should only be going up by a normal increment.

When I was having surgery on my head, this was the worst part. I started gushing blood and the doctor kept going "Oh god. That's a lot of blood. Nurse, I need towels. More towels." and the like the whole time.

The root canal itself took like 10 minutes and didn't hurt a bit.  It was kind of freaky.  Of course I spent another two hours after that getting the cap put on (it was one of those one-day crown treatments) and the anesthetic wore off while my mouth was being held open with the whole gouged out root exposed and uuuuuuurgh.

I feel fine now though and the cap is probably the most natural-feeling wad of porcelain* I've ever had to have crammed into my mouth so, hey, whatever works.

* Apparently this one is made of "blue block" and ceramic porcelain.  Basically a 3D-printed tooth.

We are having tuna fish sandwiches for dinner today re: Ash Wednesday. I was hoping for something a little more filling.

Modem dies, call cablevision. "oh, I see no appointment has been scheduled for the data leak yet, that must be the cause." "Well whoever you told about it never even let me know we had an issue." "Oh, you wouldn't have been informed, looks like it was just never followed up on after being detected."

I'm browsing the forums on my DS, but it doesn't have much memory, so I had to disable avatars and sigs in order to load pages. ::(:
