Shura eventually catches up having hard to run rather than teleport or board, and having to drop the fuzzy thing off in her room first. She gets right to work, assisting the Princess, starting with patching up the holes. There should be enough scrap around for that! She looks for some nearby tools to weld some holes shut. (Skill 2)

"I really wish Ikora were here! She had the space suit!"

EMERGENCY REPAIRS

Rebecca: 3x2=6
Shura: 2x6+3=15
TOTAL: 21

Shura manages to patch up the hull breaches for long enough to let Rebecca work her magic. Ship systems power up with a warm hum.

COMPUTER: "Power at 150%. All systems back online."

CAPTAIN: "Great job!"

Rebecca gains 5 Favor.
Shura gains 3 Favor.

Shura finishes up her job and sighs in relief, the crisis finally over. She returns to her room to check up on her guest, grabbing some of the snacks she made earlier from the fridge. .oO(I wonder what sort of things it likes to eat...)

The furry beast tackles you to the ground. It starts licking your face. It sniffs at the food you've brought and starts eating it, plates and all.

CAPTAIN: "Man, it feels like I only have two maids pulling their weight. Alright, here's what we're going to do. It's dinner time. Five maids, I want five dishes. You have half an hour before we warp jump, and whoever doesn't bring me anything is fired. Hop to it!"

Ikora wakes up from a sudden mandatory system shut-down and maidOS update as she hears the latest order. Downloading JoyOfCooking.pdf... instituting Cunning Plan #125 Protocol...

I'm gonna use my Cunning 3 to set a trap for another random maid in the kitchen after a quick stop to the Infirmary to grab bandages. Basically some bolos with the bandages wired up will mummify the sucker and the momentum will knock them into a supply closet that'll lock behind them. With mechanical precision.

Then I'll cook something with a dynamic Skill 2. Nobody will out-appetizer me and my appetizers! Hrmm. Sausage-stuffed mushrooms. Deceptively... perfect. Click.

Becky, of course, has no idea how to cook anything, so she finds the nearest space phone on the ship, using it to call the nearest intergalactic pizza place to get a bunch of large pizzas and some garlic bread delivered.

(Using my Luck of 3, because i'd have to be lucky to find a place that delivers several light years away at this time of night.)

The furry beast tackles you to the ground. It starts licking your face. It sniffs at the food you've brought and starts eating it, plates and all.

"Wah! So hungry!"

"Man, it feels like I only have two maids pulling their weight. Alright, here's what we're going to do. It's dinner time. Five maids, I want five dishes. You have half an hour before we warp jump, and whoever doesn't bring me anything is fired. Hop to it!"

"Ahh~ I will bring you bigger meal later. Капита́н is demanding attention too, and if I don't do it, my family will be in trouble." She gives her new friend a cuddle and messes it's fur. (Affection 3)

Shura hums Hearts on Fire to herself as she psyches herself up for the coming challenge.

.oO(I wonder what the other maids will do? That's a pretty serious thing to threaten us with over a snack. What happens when we're fired? There aren't any shuttles on here. We aren't literally fired are we? Like, from a cannon, into a sun, or maybe out an airlock.)

She realizes that Hearts on Fire may not be the best montage music unless she wants impending doom, and starts humming Katyusha instead. She switches to a crisp, clean uniform, not having time to wash her old one. She makes sure her star is polished to a mirror shine and tightens her apron, just so, before depart- Oh right. She almost forgot.

Shura coms the Kapitan; "Капита́н. If you want something before we make dinner, there is snacks I prepared earlier in fridge.". Having her share eaten by the fuzzy thing was a bit of a loss, but she made enough for everyone and left in in the fridge before all the excitement began. With that she storms out of her room and toward the kitchen.

(Would I even be able to counter Ikora's roll if I have no reason to suspect foul play? I'm not exactly a ship boarding ninja pirate ghost mantis alien thingie who would be looking for such traps.)

(Usually you only make one roll for the total encounter. For example, if you use Skill to cook and someone uses Cunning to plant a trap, you don't need to roll something else to counter their trap, the encounter is just your Skill vs their Cunning.

If multiple skills might apply, just roll once using whichever is best.)

(Thanks! Nice to know how that works. Also; a sound track is required for this showdown. Fighting 17th - Backdraft Movie Theme~Hans Zimmer Allez Cuisine!)

Shura Bursts into the kitchen with a determined smile on her face and fire in her eyes. She raids the pantry and freezer and cooks up a table filling meal that emphasizes nourishment over aesthetics and warmth over style, complete with a serving of beef, potatoes, vegetables, bread, hot tea, pelmeni (Like a pirogi only with meat stuffing) and if there's any available, Vodka. Completely overlooking the order of one dish per maid and attacking the problem with her usual gusto! Naturally she doesn't expect all of it to be eaten, a Russian dinner requires only that people pick and choose what they like.

(Skill 2, and I'll spend 1d6 favour to boost that by 1)

Alex, having been knocked temporarily comatose by the explosion, wakes up just in time to hear the master's declaration. "I'm a terrible cook...I hope the captain like TV space dinners." She uses her luck of 3 to root through the fridge for something to eat.

MASTER CHEF
Ikora: 3x4=12
Becky: 3x4=12
Shura: 3x1+3=6 (spends 3 Favor)
Alex: 3x3=9

Becky finds cold pizza in the fridge.

Alex's luck backfires! The whole fridge shelf collapses on top of her and ruins her apron (-1 to all rolls).

Shura just finishes her epic meal when the supply cupboard opens and a mechanical contraption wraps her with bandages and snaps her in, leaving a perfectly finished dish for Ikora.

Shura takes 4 Stress.
Alex takes 4 Stress.

The Master munches down the meals hungrily. "I love cold pizza! This stuff Ikora made is good too, though. And Alex... well, at least you tried. Not like Grammy and Shura."

Ikora gains 3 Favor.
Rebecca gains 3 Favor.
Shura loses 1 Favor.
Grammy loses 3 Favor.

"Becky, you're my new Lieutenant."

He rummages around in his pocket and finds nothing.

"Okay, I'm out of gold pips. Your first job as Lieutenant is to find Shura and take her gold pip. And tell her she's demoted until she redeems herself."

The ship suddenly jumps to warp. There's an unfamiliar whoosh and the ship judders for a few seconds.

CAPTAIN: "What just happened? Why did we jump?"

COMPUTER: "New core is identified as a Mantis class Z telepathic device. Any maid can now cause a spontaneous jump automatically, simply by willing it."

CAPTAIN: "Who jumped us?"

COMPUTER: "Particle emissions from the core spiked at an angle of incidence of 34.44 degrees. Internal sensors place only one maid at that precise angle relative to the core when the jump occurred. Maid Alex caused the jump."

Alex loses 1 Favor.

COMPUTER: "Captain, receiving an automated distress signal from an abandoned orbital outpost 10,000km from here."

CAPTAIN: "Yeah, probably a trap or something. We should probably bring the weapons online and just blow it up for scrap. You guys deal with that while I try to stop our warp core doing that thing."

Ikora bows and smiles with a click to the master, basking in his warm praise. Later, she comes to the supply closet she set earlier and opens it, initiating SurprisedReaction4.exe as she hums a jaunty tune, "looking" for some misc cleaner... and gasping as she comes across Shura! She enables scissor-fingers and frees her, deeply concerned. "Friend Shura, what happened to you!?"

"Friend Shura, what happened to you!?"

Shura brushes off the other bandages and glares back at the device. "I WAS making dinner for everyone. I hope Капита́н enjoyed it, I really don't want to die right now!" . . . "Also; did we just warp? We should have waited 'till repairs were complete."

CAPTAIN: "Yeah, I told the maids to take care of it like an hour ago. They're slacking!"

Cunning doesn't work. However, it's not difficult to operate the ship's comms device, and the other ship replies. It's a woman's voice.

"Hello? Oh, thank goodness, someone's arrived to rescue us. I'm the only crewman left on this station and we're running out of power and supplies. If you can maybe dock and rescue us, I'd be happy to be dropped off at the next Federation starbase."
