Colin Powell endorses Obama.

Somewhere, some old, racist man is going to decry this as Powell, whom he never trusted (for being too smart), as showing his true color.
I want to beat him to that pun.

Republican arrested on voter registration fraud.

Quote from: LA Times
The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario late last night on suspicion of voter registration fraud.

... Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives...

... comes after dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by his firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM... The firm was paid $7 to $12 for every Californian it registered as a member of the GOP.

Oh. Snap.

Reports in WV of voting machines behaving as on The Simpsons.

What are the chances of this being widespread enough to upset the election? Intentional or Unintentional?

I am proud to say that my household voted for Obama last night.

 :victory:

When I asked my parents who they were voting for, they dodged the question.

I'm worried now.

Also, I'll level:

I am scared to fucking death of the thought of Old Guy & Alaska Backwoods' camp is going to rig the election for them to win. The thought of them winning like that scares the shit out of me, because I can NOT stand the thought of Alaska Backwoods having power over anything other than a big glacier up in Alaska.
Someone, Thad, Rock, anyone, please tell me that this fear is unsubstantiated and the work to rig something like that makes it next to impossible.
Please.

Well...

Republicans challenging voter registrations in Ohio.
Smacked down by the SCOTUS.

Rebooted in the Ohio Supreme Court by two private citizens, who just happen to be working for the McCain campaign. The two citizens and the Secretary of State have been ordered to have their arguments in by Friday.

Then there is...

Reports in WV of voting machines behaving as on The Simpsons.

... As you saw. Chances of being widespread? Moderate. There isn't any nationwide standard for voting machines, or even methods. Haven't a clue as to how much of the market each voting machine company owns, but I remember the 2004 percentiles being acceptable.

Obama will have access to the largest virtual law firm on November 4th.

Also, take your parents hostage for the next two weeks. No need to take chances.

The thing is that the election needs to be close for someone to steal it.  In 2000, it was close enough that miscounting a few hundred votes in one state (after keeping a bunch of black people from voting) changed the outcome.

I foresee it being a lot harder to to pull that off this time.  If ONE swing state doesn't match exit polls, okay, that's weird, but probably not enough to launch an investigation.  But if SEVERAL don't match exit polls and all go Republican, AND some of them involve complaints of "malfunctioning" machines, that's going to be harder to defend.

Of course, having a Republican Supreme Court doesn't really help.

Essentially, the better Obama's lead, the harder it's going to be to fake a McCain win.  But I guess that's obvious.

McCain supporters confront racists at rally, tell them they're not welcome ... and are forbidden to talk to the press by the campaign afterwards.

Gee, it's almost like they don't want Muslims saying they support McCain on TV and they don't want anyone to get the impression that racists aren't welcome.
