Well, it proves I can kick Leviathan's scaly butt.

Oh.

Bahamut counts down from 5 to 1, then unleashes his mighty Mega Flare attack.

Man, I thought Lunar Curtains were partywide. Why bother?

Friday sets up Reflect on as many party members as possible -- which turns out to be two, given her initiative speed and the game's wonky mechanics in picking who actually moves at any given time -- while everyone else smacks Bahamut around as hard as possible.

Mars jumps, Romo hides. Being off the battlefield is a wise move right now.

DAMMIT MARS STAY IN THE AIR

As promised by the tome in the Land of Summons, Reflect makes this fight go much faster. And if you bring Romo, you're always guaranteed to have someone left alive after Mega Flare. Hide: occasionally useful!

Once Bahamut uses Mega Flare, he starts counting down again.

I have vague memories of doing this fight with FuSoYa present, giving me two people who can cast Reflect on the party, but I'm not sure if it's plausible in this version. I don't remember if you can fly the Lunar Whale around the moon after he joins, or if you fly straight to Earth to engage the Giant of Babel. Anyway, in this version Porom (or a steady supply of Lunar Curtains and the desire to spend turns using them) makes an acceptable substitute.

I... think that's all the sidequesting to be done. Fill out the summons list, get the Knife (oops), get Excalibur... am I forgetting anything, or is it time for the final dungeon?

I think it's time for the final dungeon.

Odin can be nabbed pretty early, but I wasn't 100% sure when because I always wait until I have Thundaga. Zantetsuken is about 5000 damage to all party members, so it's important to beat him before he whips it out.

Well, you know what I mean.

I know you can drop the Adamantite off at Kokkol's before going to the moon -- soon as you get the Rat Tail and free access between the overworld and underworld, really -- but I am almost 100% certain he doesn't actually finish the sword until you defeat the Giant of Babel.

He can finish it!  It's a Plot Point thing - he waits for a point of plot to progress before finishing it.  If you give it to him before opening up the Lunar Whale, you can then unseal the Whale, swing back down, and get Excalibur before you go to the Moon at all.  If you rush straight to Mysidia ... you can still get it before the Giant, but it's a lot harder.  Because killing Bahamut counts as a plot point, but you'd have to do it with only four people.

Once you cast Float, T-Rex is the easiest fight because he wastes every turn or two casting Earthquake, which Float makes everyone immune to.

Also, since no one asked, this guy immediately reminds me of the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Earth Crystal Boss: Flamerous Rex.

I can see it. Flamerus Rex had better fight music, though.

Days later, this unthinkably epic clash of the eldar gods would be giddily explained to my guy over a hasty dinner, bookended by "You should have fucking been there, man. Coolest thing I have ever seen."

Can't say that's the first time I've had to get a girl drunk before she'd play Double Dragon with me.

While Romo went to the moon, Kabbage took one of the two spare airships, went back to Fabul, and spent a few wild hedonistic nights with his wife. He misses her somewhat less now, and it led directly to events in the sequel.

Feel better now?

R^2 LP TAY

As someone who's asked  him to LP additional SaGa titles, I will honestly say that this request seems to cruel to make.

The Interlude and TAY may destroy your love of FF4 if you are weak-willed.

Also do PSP emulators on the PC even work?

Yup!  This thread inspired me to play through FF4 on one.  PPSSPP runs the FF4 Complete Collection just fine.
