Funny, I think they recorded all of Dracula's lines from that night I slept with YOUR MOM.

I was totally in the one in charge of her business.

Anyway.  Humbly requesting that some mildly difficult boss pop up literally out of nowhere at a critical turning point in the story, have an awesome opening speech and unique fight music, and then simply die at the end of the battle without explaining what the hell it had to do with anything.

That said, we should give some thought to the save system.

I'm thinking Save-Anywhere with infinite reversion to a save file, but if you die and don't reload you revert to a checkpoint.

New monster idea: French Legion. If you couldn't tell (and I wouldn't blame you), it's a floating evil ball of frogs.

ADDENDUM: I forgot about this one, but I was thinking that we should have some sort of Metroid / Headcrab-esque monster that drains Money instead of energy. Povertoids, or something.

Invisible checkpoints that write over each other and always appear directly before cutscenes.

You can only save when you pass a bill through legislation.

You can't save at all; the console has to be left on the whole time you play through the game.

Alternately, 80-character passcodes with a shitty font (1=I, 0=O, etc.)

Are we trying to score brownie points with Hideo Kojima, Norondor? Criminy.

...Okay, the lengthy passcode thing is cool.

What's with you and frogs?  Blaster Master must have terrified you.

Not particularly serious about this, but I think it'd be neat if savepoints were a usuable item.  You can buy them in town for a reasonable fee but you can only carry so many at a time.  Bonus if it's stated that the item is an actual save point, and you're carrying a bag of them around with you.

Rips in the fourth dimension can easily be contained within a pouch.

But can they be contained within a rip in the fourth dimension?

No, but they can be kept in a portable holerips in the fifth dimension.

EDIT: Damn it, Constantine.

I have a frog fetish. You put one on a girl's foot and it's totally hawt.

Honestly, idea evolution. Arc says: "Make memes into monsters". So I drew Shoop da Whoop, and I think: "That's a frog's face", and draw it as a frog. But now I'm thinking about frogs. Eventually I come up with French Legion, which naturally I just think is totally fucking clever.

I agree with this.

Wouldn't it be the French Foreign Legion? Well, anyway.

Regardless of the save scheme we use, it also needs suspend saves.

Do it like NetHack, with ONLY suspend saves. The Mayor would approve.

I like the idea of needing to buy saves, and merchants jack up the price if they know there's something big coming up soon.

also roguelike spinoff is the first natural evolution, det

That's why I put Sgt. Frog in there. Conversely, I don't care.

I'm tempted to suggest stealing taking a vast amount of inspiration from an enemy or two from Earthbound like NewAgedRetroHippy and the other enemies around Fourside.
