...uh, exactly what do you think I do, JD?

I dunno. I vaguely remember that you worked for A Company at one point, doing Things. This is more than I usually get up to.

Also, everybody on the fucking planet should read The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.

I read The Art of War. I'm still procrastinating but now I know how an army should react on facile, dispersive and desperate ground.

Ever "borrow" music for your games, then later when they come up on your usual playlist you realize halfway through the song that it's not the soundtrack to your fucking game?

More terrifying than getting rotation code right on the first try: getting hardcore assembly-style stack manipulation right on the first try.

EPILOGUE: It turned out to be a slower implementation and did not solve the problem I was having anyway.  SEE ABOVE!

:sadpanda: Sorry to hear about your stack manipulation not fixing your problem.

... Why the hell was it less efficient anyway?

Tracking that stack pointer is a computational bitch.

Haiku Error Messages
-------------------------

The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.

Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Program aborting:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.

Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.

A crash reduces
Your expensive computer
To a simple stone.

Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Arc is apparently awesome.

There will be pics eventually but first I need to find a cherrywood desk to pose with.

Hmm.  I think I just spent the last month on collision detection.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT PLAQUE ARC I LOVE IGNORING ITS SAGE ADVICE.

...oh, right.  Um.  This is what Arc sent me.

I need to either go find a stand for it or actually *gasp* hang something on my wall (my office is as empty as my soul).  Apparently my need to do this is rather immediate, because the thing has to be staring me in the face at all times lest I fall to temptation and geometric kerjiggery.

You have to have a proper perspective on this sort of thing.  Like, for the guy who actually needs open heart surgery, it's relatively easy; the guy doing it is the one making things much harder for himself.
