Just for the sake of gaining some cool (masochist?) points, I'll mention I'm playing on difficult.

Not on purpose, though. I'm playing the Gamecube collection, which is a port of the Playstation remake, which doesn't have the easy setting.

Brentai, you have to blow up several of the walls to get at them. The walls in front of them are the Crash-Bomb-Blow-Up-Walls that are in several of the Robot Master levels.

I don't know that playing on the default difficulty is really worthy of accolade.  I mean, Normal difficulty is a fabrication of the US release.

I don't remember 2 being very hard, even on "difficult" mode, but I think that's just because I've played it more than any other of the main series, and so I'm very familiar with the stages and bosses.

Also, changed the name of this thread because it's become a general MM thread instead of one specifically about 9.

It might have to be renamed something to the effect of "I Can't Believe We All Payed an Extra $2 for Protoman Official Thread of Eternal Shame"

None of the NES Mega Man games except 1 is hard for me anymore. I've played them so many times though that it's not much of a surprise. I still have never managed to beat Wily's last ship in Mega Man 7 however.  :painful:

To be fair, I have 500 Wii Points that I haven't found a use for yet.

Tried to play through on Difficult recently; quit after the third time dying to the dragon and being forced to grind Sniper Joes for pathetically reduced item drops in order to refill my Item-1 each time.

Don't grind on the Joes.  Grind on the tube guys.  You know, the ones from Crash Man's stage.

I don't remember 2 being very hard, even on "difficult" mode.

It's only hard until you realize that the metal blade is the best weapon ever.

Oh yeah, I think that's it.

I should also add that that boss never gave me much trouble, although I never really liked using the Items.

Something is wrong with you.

Item-2 is mai waifu.

I picked up Rockman Mega World on eBay a couple years back and just recently played through it.  (Finally beat the Yellow Devil on MM1 without cheating, but it FELT like cheating; the slowdown was so bad it was like bullet time.)  I played through Wily Tower with what I felt was a good, balanced set of weapons and items -- though I'm tempted to go back and replay with the WORST selection of weapons and items I can come up with: Top Spin, Power Arm, stuff like that.  And I think if I were picking the worst three items I'd have to go with Rush Marine, Item-3, and, yes, Item-2.

By the way, it took me a bunch of tries but yeah, I did Heat Man's stage without Item-2.

I seem to remember Mega World's difficulty being cranked up somewhat due to the damage your buster or weapons do being weakened significantly, but it's been a long time since I played it, so I can't really recall.

Also, I think Yellow Devil is harder in Powered Up, but maybe it just FEELS like you have less room to maneuver against him.

(black devil in x5 = whole reason the x series exists)

It was supposed to be the last game before MM Zero.  I don't know about conclusion so much since it doesn't resolve a damn thing.

So the first thing I did was get knocked into a pit by one of the little pit-robots in Concrete Man's stage.

The second thing I did was get knocked into a pit by one of the shots from the little pit-robots in Concrete Man's stage.

...Why am I happy about this?!?!?!

If I could just manage to get the E Tank in plug man's stage, I could probably beat him.

I ended up getting Concrete Man down to 1 hit point.

Oh well.  I'd actually be sort of annoyed if I could beat the stages that easily.
