It was deliberately MADE to be like a game on the NES in almost every with VERY few exceptions. Having to do all of Skull Castle in one run by design is a well regarded tradition of Mega Men like myself.:humpf:

Actually, given that the only reason you'd quit Skull Castle in the middle is to go back to the fucking STORE, it's really adhering to the Game Boy games, not the NES ones.

I beat MM2 on my DS' NES emulator, so I basically rewound during the whole thing where you are supposed to freeze time. Otherwise I didn't cheat.

I got to the final boss in MM9 and stopped playing.

I finally beat the Yellow Devil without cheating a few months back, but it was on Rockman Mega World, and the slowdown was so bad it FELT like cheating.  It was like fucking bullet-time.

But it makes me curious as to whether I could go back and do it in the NES version now.

I actually find Yellow Devil harder in Mega Man Powered Up than I do on the NES version.

I beat megaman 1-6 without cheating on an actual NES.

Yes I was bored and determined as a child.

I think most of the difficulty in Powered Up comes from the massive amount of damage you take by being touched by anything.

I'm a streamlined machine of death with all old Mega Man games except the original. All robot master weaknesses memorized and I can typically beat them without seeing the continue screen.

Fun Fact: The % chance of an extra life dropping in MM5 is absurdly high compared to the other ones.

Except for 6. Never owned 6. Only once did I play 6.

Truly.  It's not as good as its predecessors, but that's not really a fair standard.  It's still a damn fine game.

It can hardly be a bad game, being a cut and paste of the last five.

If I relabeled a Metal Gear Solid 3 disc and sold it to you for full price, I don't think the argument of "But it's still a good game!" would really stand.

6 had a couple really neat ideas (branching paths, jetpack) that were largely overlooked because it came after 4 and 5 and (in America) at the same time as X.

It's still the one I've played least of.  My recollection is blowing through it in a day or two when it came out, playing partway through it a second time some years later and stopping somewhere on Skull Castle.

...Really, since I've replayed all of them except 5 and 6 at some point in the past 6 months or so, I may be due to dust it off.  Though it's probably a lower priority than MM4GB.

Where is Mega Man 11?

You know what I would like for a new Mega Man game?

Step 1: Include ALL robot masters and their levels/music/powers, plus the new 8 ones of course.

Step 2: Recreate the Megaman 7 and 8 levels in the NES style of course.

Step 3: Include a mode in which you can chose the 8 robot masters you want (or make them random)

Step 4: Include a mode in which the entire game is done in a Metroidvania style. Let's call it Adventure mode.

Step 5: Make adventure mode have randomly generated levels.

Step 6: Contest to create new Mega Man music, the top 100 tunes are included in the game. Do the same with art and include a fan-art gallery.

Step 7: Make the robot masters playable (unlockable of course).

Step 8: NES-style graphics, but with particle and lighting effects.

Step 9: Include a Mega Man vibrator in the collector's edition.

I'LL BUY THAT FOR 60 DOLLERS!

I'm getting leery of looking forward to new games from Capcom, even if only because at some point they're gonna start piling up employee corpses in the lobby and shoving them out the front doors with a bulldozer.

Yeah, I'm on the doorstep of boycotting them.  Of course I don't think I've purchased a non-Street Fighter Capcom game in a few years so uh
