The reaction of a marketing guy as he realizes he has to sell an 8-bit Megaman game in the US is priceless.

This makes me look forward to more marketing, actually.

I don't expect TV ads (though if they'll play anywhere they'll play on G4), but as I was going through my comic collection I remembered the Mega Man 5 "Help Mega Man turn Proto Man into spare parts" ad was all over fucking everything for awhile.  I remember it annoying the crap out of me at the time because really, we all knew Mega Man wasn't really going to turn Proto Man into spare parts, but I would love to see it played for laughs.  "Dr. Light has gone bad!  Help Mega Man bring him to justice!"

Actually, I'm curious as to how the plot will play out in the game.  Will it be stated in the beginning that Dr. Light has been framed, or will it only come as a SHOCKING REVELATION after the first few endgame stages, and then the facade comes off Light's castle and it turns out it's Skull Castle?

Stupid idea + 15 years + sense of irony and self-awareness = awesome.

Futurama says it better.

Yup, I saw that ad a million times in the comics from that time period.

It's actually right in the intro:

Haha, EXcellent.

...But I still want a fake Dr. Light castle.

Also: the Mega Man 1 bosses were also Dr. Light's robots that Dr. Wily stole.  Wonder if we'll see any of them make cameos.

(Don't know how Powered Up plays into canon, such as it is.)

I like how most of the sentences are cut off in really awkward spots.

No signs of Bass yet. Wonder how his 8-bit incarnation will look?

The Megaman 9 OST is out! Well, most of it, as of this post. I'm still anxious to hear the Wily Castle themes.

I'd rank it lower than MM2's soundtrack, but waaaaaay higher than 5's (which I pretty much totally dislike) and a little higher than 6's. I guess I like it about as much as I like MM4's soundtrack, but YMMV because I love that game and most of its music.

Perhaps a LITTLE heavy on MM2 music -- I'll grant it needed the classic "boss intro" and "beat level" music, but did it have to be identical?

Mega Man 4's probably a safe comparison.  I just replayed it and found it a mediocre entry with pretty good music.

Is it just me or does Concrete Man's music sound like something out of Ninja Gaiden?

I think all in all the 8 stages music is altogether too upbeat and fast paced.  There's traditionally been a few stages that take a slower, more tense, or easier pace to their songs.  And yeah the boss intro is ripped exactly from MM2, seriously even MM4 at least remixed it SLIGHTLY.

The intro is straight-up Wood Man, the next 16 bars sound Ninja Gaiden-y, then the next 8 sound more Mega Man-y with, oddly, a riff from Frank Zappa's Let Me Take You to the Beach at the end, and then the rest is Ninja Gaiden-y again, with perhaps a bit of Slash Man from MM7 thrown in.
