::(: Then why not mention that in the specs??

I think the specs on that screen just detail what you can get Upgrade Parts for.

Also: That's not pointing to the jewel on his forehead, just his head.  Unless you're saying he also hears and speaks through the jewel.  So the jewel actually does NOTHING.

Also, the X-Buster is described as the Mega Buster Mark 17.  Assuming the original gun is 1, the Mega Buster from 4 is 2, the bigger shot from 5 is 3, the Mega Arm is 4...and I guess you could call the Laser and Arrow Shots in 8 5 and 6...that still leaves a hell of a lot more generations of Mega Man hardware before X.

No wonder 9 doesn't end with Zero slaughtering everybody!

Dr. Light probably just fucked up a bunch of prototypes.

I have enjoyed watching what was nominally a NSFW thread degenerate into a discussion over the listed specs for a video game robot. I'm sure someone was saying something about us all being too old for something or other...

Play again?: Y/N

From what I recall, Rock's buster is an Mark 7 since the last game he was in, so that's a good ten steps before they get to reploid killin' power.

...Mega Man 7 was AFTER Mega Man X.

And anyway, 2, 3, and 6 CLEARLY don't have new Busters in them.  And if 7 does, it's a step backward, as it does 2/3 of the damage the ones in 4-6 do.

Maybe the improvements are all in areas like energy-efficiency or greenhouse emissions or something else that has no direct effect on shootan'.

That was my first guess, but why intentionally handicap your great blue hope?
This isn't Dr. Wiley we're talking about...

Isn't it? Don't forget that the Masters in MM1 were all built by Light, and now the ones in MM9 are too. He's just as bad at this as Wily is, he just has the occasional successful fluke more often.

And I'd imagine Light would be much more likely to make Rock compliant with environmental regulations than Wily.

Also re: X's helmet jewel - It's not a camera. I seem to recall reading something about how the head jewels have something to do with a Reploid's life force (you'll note they pretty much all have one) but I'm not sure of the exact details. If nothing else it acts as an energy indicator because it flashes when X's life metre gets low.

well, the robots Light makes are for PEACEFUL purposes, the reason they are weak to an opposing force is because they'd rarely encounter that thing during the course of their normal job.

it's also a cost saving measure, why protect against something that wont happen feasibly.

Um, Dr. Light is being framed in MM9. He didn't actually build them.

He's not telling them to destroy the world, but doesn't Mega Man say "Dr Light omg those are YOUR robots" in the intro?

Tornado Man:
After a series of devastating hurricanes in 200X, Dr. Light decided to design a robot that would be able to study weather patterns and determine the effects of global climate change, as well as act as emergency disaster relief. Obviously the spinners on his arms are meant to generate a counter-force that will dissipate an oncoming cyclone.

Hornet Man:
A dedicated conservationalist, Dr. Light was inspired by the unexplained disappearance of honeybees to create a robot to tend to the rare and endangered species of flora in the Thomas Light wing of the Monsteropolis Botanical Gardens. The robotic hornets use sophisticated microtechnology and wireless networking and are able to care for the vast number of plants efficiently, as well as defend them from pests and blue robots.

...are these two posts connected or did I just waste the past ten minutes trying to figure out who was taking about what?  Because MM7 coming out after X and Mega Man having an earlier version of the standard-issue pea shooter that X uses doesn't seem to be mutually exclusive.
