When Capcom sees a slippery slope, they pull out the sled and start charging at it.

Well, everyone FIGURED you'd be able to buy the slide and the charge shot -- just not that you'd have to LITERALLY buy them, IN REAL LIFE.

Part of me thinks it's bullshit.  But part of me also notes that I currently have 400 Wii points and you can only buy them in increments of 10, so what the fuck ELSE am I supposed to do with the remainder.

Accumulate remainders until you have enough to get something good? Think of it as a bonus game after your 5th or what have you! O-only the process by which they calculate when you've "earned" a "free" game is really transparent?

I'm trying not to fall into this way of thinking, and I might be able to resist if I didn't have such a hard on for Protoman. Still, I'll have the leftover points... and they'll just be sitting there....

It's Proto.

:kowhyee: They know that $2 is but a sliver of what I'd pay out.

I don't like what I see!

Hm, maybe.  There are still some Genesis games I'd like to grab (Gunstar Heroes!).  My NES and SNES collections are pretty close to where I want them, though.

Playing through Mega Man 2 to prepare myself for 9 tomorrow.

...

Jesus balls this game is hard. I haven't sworn this much since I was 9. I just got to the orb wall boss in Wily's castle, and I think I'm JUST NOW getting the hang of things. Too bad all my E tanks are gone...

the orb wall boss in Wily's castle

that boss is the single reason Megaman 3 is better than 2.

Use the Bubble Lead and stay near the middle.

I think I made it through without taking any hits when I played through it a couple months back.  But I seem to recall getting my ass handed to me the last time I played it before that.

I think you're thinking about the block boss, who was a cinch to beat with bubble lead. This boss consists of laser fuck orbs behind block walls, and can only be harmed by crash bombs. Problem is, you only have enough shots to get the job done, and you have to use item 1 or 3 to get around. Painfully annoying.

Y'know, up until about a year ago, I didn't know you could beat Megaman 2 without dying.

It's true!  It never occured to me to use the Items to move around the walls for the orb wall boss.  I always just blew up all the walls, died, and killed guys to fill my weapon meter back up.  The walls stay gone on multiple attempts.

Well, theoretically one can.  But no human can do so without some sort of freakish mutation.

Oh, THAT fucking evil bastard.  Yeah, I always shot out all the walls and then killed myself too.

Actually, that's where I quit when I tried to replay it last year.

I just, ahem, quietly set the controller down for the night. It's too much for me... I can get past the conveyor nonsense without much problem, but those protoman-wannabes on the AT-ST walkers kill me 9 out of 10 times. And when I do get to the orb room, I can take out all but 2 of those frickers before I explode.

And you call yourself Crash Man!?

Tried to play through on Difficult recently; quit after the third time dying to the dragon and being forced to grind Sniper Joes for pathetically reduced item drops in order to refill my Item-1 each time.

I should also add that that boss never gave me much trouble, although I never really liked using the Items.
