So you basically have to be a patient, thorough son of a bitch.

Let me tell you about the time I took over every region of San Andreas without ever bringing any gang members.

I thought everyone did it that way.

Edit: hey, found out you can change your Archetype.  I assume you ally with a race that follows the belief you want, then do something in the Diplomacy menu to get a mission to change to theirs.

People brought useless NPCs with them? Give me the rifle and a bit of body armor and some shitty pathing AI any day.

LAST NIGHT: I'm glad my roommate bought this!  I can play it on his computer without worrying about whether mine's going to be broken!  Maybe I'll play a little bit right now!

FIVE HOURS LATER: Holy shit, I can't ever play this if I have plans the following day.  Never ever ever.

Next spore experiment: See if the game will let me have a creature reach end-game with no arms.

So I added Kazz as a buddy to my universe.  His race is now the only ones that will not rally to my cause. >:(

How's that?  You can get +100 for doing missions, +50 for giving money, and +20 for opening a trade route.  That's plenty to get max relations and an alliance.

Did you like blow up a bunch of their spaceships or something?

N-.. No!  Nothing like that.  It's just I didn't expect them to start with the -30 WE DONT LIKE PEOPLE.

It is only natural that a creation reflect its creator, and Kazz hates everyone!

Depends on which ones they are.

If you got, like, Assaulty or Wargoblin, I'm afraid of what will happen to your galaxy.

EDIT: also, my account includes creatures that my roommates made.

Do... Do they also hate everyone?

Also, have Assaulty/Wargoblin already been posted?

Just get Kazz's email address out of his profile and add to your buddy list in game.

Your daily recommended dose of Kazz, in one neat and tidy folder.

N-.. No!  Nothing like that.  It's just I didn't expect them to start with the -30 WE DONT LIKE PEOPLE.

When you find one, and their "escort" starts shooting you, get to the planet and open communications.  Give them money, then accept a mission, and they'll most likely stop shooting you.  Doing missions is a great source of income, and makes them happy too.  Also, never ever accept a communication from them.  They don't seem to mind very much if you simply ignore them, at least compared to denying tribute.  If you do a couple of missions, you can most likely leave them be until you're either ready to either conquer them or open further negotiations.  Of course, they often ask you to attack other empires, so be ready to Delete their missions if they ask you to attack a friend.

Actually, they do still get angry if you ignore their communications, but they don't ask for bribes once you ally with them.  So if you want them to shut up without killing the fuck out of them, ally quick.  Also I'm not sure how the new patch reduced their asking price; maybe it stays low so you can just keep paying them now.

I should've clarified.  I was trying to say the opposite, that there are so many hands and steps in the process nowadays that it's getting easier and easier for a game to get manhandled and made into a flop despite the presence of a big-name creative visionary.  Was thinking mostly about Spore and Will Wright.

It's a bit "so what" now that I think about it, but the main point is "The complexity of game production nowadays is becoming a double-edged sword".
I don't know if this discussion is done or what, but Will Wright isn't interesting or a visionary and always makes the same game, over and over, and therefore it is not surprising that Spore sucked: it was the Sims. You'd be better off citing the Katamari guy, whose brilliant vision is diluted and made worse game after game.

(And anyway, I am pretty sure that people are so gay for Will Wright that if he says he wants something he has a team who will do it, no questions asked.)

He specifically said he wanted a bunch of minigames tied together.  Everyone thought this was an awesome idea when he talked excitedly about it, but when it finally came out we all looked at it and went "Wait a minute, minigames suck.  Why the hell did we all think this was brilliant?"

They weren't interesting games, though.  And you didn't actually have interesting choices, ever.  You could either kill everything or make friends with everything.
