If that part of the game were more fleshed out into a standalone product, I'd be a happy boy.

Perhaps that's a bad example...

I think it should be more like E.V.O., but then again I say that about everything.

My favorite game concepts have always centered around the ability to create your own shit.  Not just aesthetically, but actually designing everything about your unit or units.  Design choices mean more in the Cell stage than in any other stage; once you get to Spaceship, a bare cube is just as effective as a tricked-out rocket ship.  That's why I love Cell so much.

However, it's too short, and it doesn't have much depth.  You really wouldn't get many hours out of a game like Origins.  Maybe if you replaced the cells with, let's say, spaceships, and then stuck cannons and shields and armor in various places... and also the game should really be multiplayer...

btw I killed an epic in Creature mode

i kited him to some trees and spit him to death from 1,000 health.  took like half an hour.

i had to run around eating to stay alive while doing it, so I ended up accidentally leading him out of the trees and I had to climb up the hill there in the second shot.

i have a video of his death, I'll upload it sometime soon.

Okay, good work.  Now, did you get anything at all from killing it?  I killed an epic in Tribal mode (rather easy with throwing spears to be honest), and the corpse had a ton of food on it.  I'm curious as to how much DNA you get in Creature mode.

I'm glad there's no Achievement for doing it, though.  That would be lame.

Oh, and that advice about doing bombing runs was great, Shinra.  I especially like how colonies drop tons of cash if they refuse to surrender and blow up.  I did find another way to deal with unfriendly empires, though.  When you find one, and their "escort" starts shooting you, get to the planet and open communications.  Give them money, then accept a mission, and they'll most likely stop shooting you.  Doing missions is a great source of income, and makes them happy too.  Also, never ever accept a communication from them.  They don't seem to mind very much if you simply ignore them, at least compared to denying tribute.  If you do a couple of missions, you can most likely leave them be until you're either ready to either conquer them or open further negotiations.  Of course, they often ask you to attack other empires, so be ready to Delete their missions if they ask you to attack a friend.

Someone's been flying the Gummi Ship Space Fridge again.

Heh, I found an epic in Space mode.  I foolishly decided not to stuff it in my tiny spaceship, as I didn't get any special message from simply scanning it.  In fact, I had scanned its species before.  Would've been hilarious to dump it in an enemy city, I bet.

100 DNA?  That's definitely not worth the effort, especially considering how much you get from socializing Rogues.

Bal's 'Rapealope' thing from the other thread spawned as an epic creature, then hovered around the nest and SPAWN KILLED me over and over a few times until I could run away.  Usually aggro drops when I die.  This thing decided I was no longer fit to exist as a species.

Also Geo's Glovedor stomped around as an epic.  Strangely enough almost all of the things made when the creature creator came out are turning up as epics.

I would have posted pictures but for some reason the board said to me last night 'no attachments over 512k'

Does the Rapealope still disturb you when it's enormous?

Also, screenshot?

Note to all: Press "C" to generate an ultramassive 2mb PNG screenshot.  If you want to stick it on the boards, save it as JPG.  I'm not sure how wise it would be for me to increase the attachment size limit.

Press "V" to record an AVI.  They upload to Youtube without any problems.

Yeah, I've got screens.  I won't be able to post until much later.

Also, I think I snagged a .png off 4chan that will let you have tachikomas for vehicles during the civ phase.  I can't WAIT to encounter that.

I'm pretty sure you just grab your Chieftain and click on their food stock.  While Social is active, mind you.

But.  But I want SPEAR GUY to bring the food.  ARGH.  I have to do EVERYTHING myself for this tribe!

Also Brent, your boss guy is in my list.  He's bound to turn up sooner or later.

Oh right.  We need to start doing the spore-friends-list thingy.  How do we do that?  Is it by mail accounts?  Stick a @gmail.com on my name for mine.
