Standard reminder: The Batman was pretty damn good in its last couple seasons.

...Watched another TMNT tonight (over beer with Ben, as planned) and it was pretty decent.  So I guess I haven't given up entirely on it yet.

the Blue Beetle's voice is completely terrible sounding.

 That's Will Friedle, you dope.  Terry fucking McGinnis.

Clip (with Kirby Dots!), interview.

Well, Beetle's voice is nowhere near as bad in that clip as it was in the aforementioned commercial. However, just because the guy who did Terry's voice is doing Jaime's doesn't mitigate the fact that Jaime's voice is really fucking irritating to listen to.

You say that like Terry McGinnis had an especially great voice.

He had the absolutely perfect voice for Terry McGinnis.

Speaking of perfect voices, Thomas Everett Scott and Billy West are apparently reprising their roles as Booster and Skeets.

Nrama review.  Basically: show is good, CG is grating at times.

...So the latest DC tease says "The owl and the butler are the same person."

The butler is certainly Alfred, and the owl is most likely Thomas Wayne.

So yeah, looks like I called it.

Robin, Nightwing, Birds of Prey - CANCELLED. They've been running since '94, '96, & '99 respectively. Reboot? I've collected more Robin issues than I'm willing to admit. Hint: the total number is above zero!

Dark Knight script now available for download.

'For Your Consideration' website is now live, but I wouldn't throw too much weight behind more than two or three categories being nominated. Every Potter film runs magazine advertisements with the same rundown.

Pretty good odds on a post-RIP shakeup.  (I don't think Morrison will do something as  as "Dick becomes Batman", but reboots increase sales.)

I am aware of Whatever Happened? and in fact was talking about it not ten minutes ago.  I look forward to it, but assuming it's related to its namesake, it merely closes the book on an old chapter and won't have much influence on the story going forward.

I just learned some trivia about The Dark Knight.

Apparently the Joker's coat and vest are made from the same felt used on card tables.

Nrama preview of Kevin Smith's Cacophony.  First few pages look good, but Smith's problem has ALWAYS been that he starts off strong and then fucks it up before the end.

Also: interview with Diedrich Bader on playing Batman.  Show starts Friday!

EDIT: Also also, a little more on Whatever Happened? that seems to confirm what I said above:

Quote
Grant Morrision, who will return to the series after Gaiman’s two-parter, said “Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?” is “going to be quite a personal thing” unrelated to what follows.

“Think of it as Neil Gaiman’s Batman,” Morrison said. “It’s not about continuity. It’s more kind of an overall look at the whole mythos.”

I don't care much for Hush, and I think overall Heart of Hush has been the weak point of Dini's run on Detective.

That said, the last issue is excellent; vintage Dini.  It ties everything he's done together nicely, and would be a great place to end his run (well, other than the rather large dangling thread of
Hush surviving and knowing where the Batcave is
) -- but makes me feel good about the fact that he's coming back in a few months (and apparently taking care of said thread).

I think the best part of this issue is the Batcave -- it has a presence in the story, like a character unto itself.  I always loved the Dini/Timm treatment of the trophy room, and Dini cranks it up here by having every Batmobile on display -- "A car for every mood swing," as Hush puts it.  As happened on both Batman Beyond and Justice League, trophies are used as weapons here.  That and Hush's defeat is straight out of
The Incredibles
.

All in all, a really fun ending to a nasty, violent story, and it features a good chunk of the Bat-family to boot.  The scene between Bruce and Selina at the end shows a side of both of them that we seldom see.  And the pages that follow provide a satisfying ending.

Looks like O'Neil's doing a post-RIP arc next; that should be interesting.  Then Dini's back in a few months.  Should be good.

The first episode of The Brave and the Bold starts with Batman and Green Arrow suspended above a giant vat of acid.

Which says "ACID" on it.

I fucking love this show.

Nrama preview of Kevin Smith's Cacophony.  First few pages look good, but Smith's problem has ALWAYS been that he starts off strong and then fucks it up before the end.

First issue's pretty good!  Smith's dialogue's back up to his usual standard, way better than the dreck he put out in Spider-Man vs. Black Cat.  (Also, nobody's gotten raped so far, although the other nastiness from that book, including drug overdoses and violence against children, is present.)

The Zsasz bit's unpleasant, but the Joker bits are hi-larious.  (Also, this Joker reminds me of Guild.)  Onomatopoeia, as in his original appearance in Green Arrow, is a totally lame character with an awesome name.

Also, Flanagan's art's pretty decent.  He has definitely earned a sleepover and a game of Naked Robber.

Finished The Batman today.  Still haven't seen the bulk of the first three seasons.  4 was great; 5 was decent but had a bunch of crappy eps near the end.

My favorite episode was Artifacts, which it turns out was written by Greg Weisman.  I also quite liked Seconds and Strange New World.

Everywhere Man (another Weisman ep) was also good.  ...So I guess what I'm saying is, I want the second season of Spectacular Spider-Man to start, dammit.

(Guess in the meantime I can finish watching season 2 of Gargoyles.  I've finally decided to torrent it on finding out that there aren't any plans to release the rest of it on DVD.  Disney, I went legit as far as you let me.)

With my new Netflix account, I got to watch Batman: Gotham Knight.

Had I not already sealed the return envelope, I would have taken some screen shots to do this next bit the way Arc does with pretty pictures.

Bruce Wayne observing new tech device.
I can be IMMUNE to bullets?    :glee:
Five minutes later
OH GOD I AM IMMUNE TO BULLETS!   :ohshi~:

LOVED this DVD.  Would totally pay lots of money for more of this Batman Note style stuff.
