Church's Obama Message Removed After Outcry

Quote
Pastor Roger Byrd said that he just wanted to get people thinking. So last Thursday, he put a new message on the sign at the Jonesville Church of God.

It reads: "Obama, Osama, hmm, are they brothers?"Byrd said that the message wasn't meant to be racial or political.

"It's simply to cause people to realize and to see what possibly could happen if we were to get someone in there that does not believe in Jesus Christ," he said.

Way to put distractions on notice there, Barack.

...You know, if I were running for office, I'd totally wear a Gadsden Flag lapel pin.

(Wikipedia link for foreigners and Americans who don't remember its name.)

Considering the emphasis people are putting on Genesis these days, you'd think they'd be more hesitant to pick the serpent as their symbol.

Snakes get a bad rap, but I'm from the desert and I love them.  Franklin's comparison of the US to a rattler is an apt one.

Anyway.  AFAIK it's mostly godless heathen Libertarians using the Gadsden flag as their personal symbol.  Which makes sense, given that "leave me the fuck alone" is the cornerstone of their political philosophy.

Franklin's comparison of the US to a rattler is an asp one.

EDIT: Money shot on the bottom story:

Quote
The USA Today poll said one-third of primary voters were less likely to vote for Obama because of his ties to Wright.

The results also showed the same portion less likely to vote for Clinton, a New York senator, because of her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

About 38 percent of likely voters said they were less likely to vote for McCain, an Arizona senator, because of his ties to President George W. Bush.

So, 98% of voters are not likely to vote for anyone, at all.

Yes, we wouldn't want someone with crazy religious ideas to be kinda close to the President.
Rev. Wright for President!

Note, both Childers & Cazayoux won their special elections, in deeply Republican districts.

Obama has coattails, or is a non-factor at worst.

I see this:

And blame Kentucky instead of Barack.

He hits me because he loves me.

Plus, I accidentally slipped and called Osama "Obama" over the phone last night, even after going off on someone for making the same mistake a month ago. Karma.

Obama on if he'd like to be placed onto Mt. Rushmore...

Obama leaves his church

I wouldn't have done this if I were Obama.  The people who are going to hate him will not be convinced otherwise; this will only incense those who don't hate him yet.

edit: I've given this a little more thought... I'm not sure this was a token political move.  Church members seem to be making his candidacy difficult; every controversial thing they do, he has to answer for.  It is disrespectful of them to continue to say politically incorrect things while their own member is seeking office.

But that's what it LOOKS like, and that's what people are going to be saying for the next five months.

It makes him look like a calculating politician.

On the other hand, Bill Clinton is the CONSUMMATE calculating politician but had the skill to make it look natural.  He was wildly popular where a less charismatic politician would have been despised.  I think that Obama similarly has the charisma to overcome "flip-flopper" accusations.

Yeah.  My immediate thought was that the very same people who were jumping on him for his association with Reverend Wright were now going to jump on him for abandoning his church.

Perhaps it'll make him look so cold and manipulative that he'll win over Hillary's old supporters!

History is made.

I'm still too much the cynic to really expect a big shakeup to the status quo.  But for now, I'll dream the dream and let a wiser man speak of change.
