This man is clearly attempting to support the massive erection that the National Anthem gives him.  Such literally unbridled passion is what makes him as great as the greatest leaders in our history, especially that other Clinton.

Something tells me that people who really care about who says the Pledge of Allegiance are probably not going to be voting Obama anyway.

...Do we have an :obvious: icon, or is that too FARK?

Is there an icon for 'can be debunked with fifteen seconds of googling'?

Because yeah.

Yeah.  The picture is shopped.

In the real version, Obama has pulled his dick out and is flipping everybody off while chugging goat's blood.

I've summarized my current thoughts on Obama in my latest blog post, I Want to Believe.

Shouldn't really be anything new to most of you.  But I worked Boondocks into it.

...Oh man an Obama episode of Boondocks could be SO GOOD.  Of course, the entire problem with the current season is that they don't have the balls to do the kind of shit they did in season 1.

Quote from: Thad
I also think Clinton has been attacked unfairly for her remark that it took LBJ to sign the Civil Rights Act.

The retort was nonsensical on every level. If you accept the line of reasoning that Hippobottomus wasn't sidelining the legacy of Dr. King, then you have to look into why it was brought up at all. Apparently her point was that it takes a president to enact change. Nevermind the fact that this change wouldn't have been on the table if not for Dr. King, but what exactly does she fucking think Obama is running for? Local ice cream man?

No. He's running for president. The same damned position she's gunning for. He'd be just as capable to enact legislation as her.

Now, as a response, it makes even less sense. It all started at the end of the New Hampshire debate, when she said that candidates should not be “raising the false hopes of our country about what can be delivered...”. To which Obama responded with:

“How have we made progress in this country? Look, did John F. Kennedy look at the moon and say ‘Ah, it’s too far. We can’t do that. We need a reality check. Dr. King standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: ‘You know, this dream thing, it’s a false hope. We can’t expect equality.’”

To which she later reacts with:

"I would point to the fact that Dr. King's dream began to be realized when President Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, when he was able to get through Congress something that President Kennedy was hopeful to do, the president before had not even tried, but it took a president to get it done..."

Uhhhhhhh, let me get this straight. She claims that candidates shouldn't raise false hope. He responds that hope is a virtue for leadership (in so many words), citing Kennedy & MLK. She retorts that Kennedy was hopeful, but another president fulfilled the hope, and that it, uh, takes a president to do the job.

...

Connecting the dots on as to why Kennedy was unable to fulfill that hope during his administration illuminates the point Clinton was attempting to make. That Obama is going to be shot in the head.

The End.

A bit farfetched.  I think she's just saying she'd be a better President and that Obama's pretty words are not indicative of good leadership skills.  I'm inclined to agree on the latter, and the former is sort of her job to say.

"Kennedy would have gotten the Civil Rights Act passed if he had lived" is conjecture.  "Johnson had more support from southerners and Republicans than Kennedy did" is not.  I think accusing Clinton of using code words to suggest Obama's going to get shot is a little silly.

Of course, she DID say if Obama gets elected we'll get attacked by terrorists.

To be clear, I was goofing around there on that last part with the codes and the gunshots ringing out and A Nation Mourns omg omg.

Note to self, use a few of those square blocks from time to time. :doit:

Final analysis: Her first point was fine, and her follow-up was :hurr:

Not too surprising, seeing as how her campaign strategy thus far has been 'strike first, counter-strike, counter that counter-strike and then let them actually respond'.

The first point being 'false hopes', and the (awkward) follow-up being the LBJ/Kennedy jamboree that while true in some celestial context, still landed her in hot water over its vis-a-vis, apropos, hereto, whatisyourpointism.

Can we get a new elections thread? I'm pretty sure Huckaburger is just fucking with us now...

[ARC EDIT: From November? Whhhaaa~~~]

... And I don't trust myself enough to not just post the wiki entry for 'Temple garment' over and over again.

I think they're the same point -- SAYING you're going to do something is a lot different from actually DOING it.

And Obama's the one who brought up JFK.  He used the old "JFK said we'd put a man on the moon, and we did" line.  Which is swell, but Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy.

Can we get a new elections thread?

You have New Thread privileges on this board, right?

The man is clearly a hollow stump on the issue of Choice. An absent cadaver. A ghost dad, if you will.

Pathetic. No matter how much they try to disguise Julia Roberts, we can all tell who is reading a script here.

More from HuffPo: a "present" vote is legally identical to a "no" vote, it just doesn't SOUND as strong.  The reason Obama voted "present" was precisely BECAUSE it doesn't sound as strong, so it would be harder for right-wingers to attack his record.

...Tangent on the subject of choice: hoo boy, not only does Huckabee want to outlaw abortion, he also wants to outlaw contraception.  I knew the guy was campaigning toward the fringe of the fringe, but come ON now, what's he thinking?  I don't care HOW much he thinks Jesus wants him to win, he HAS to know that's not going to play with anybody left of Robertson.
