With My Freeze Ray I Stop The World
:MENDOZAAAAA: That ending disappointed in many ways. Were there enough watchers to have a separate thread on this, or any real discussion?

Dr.Horrible was great.  Particularly the part where he mentions even the police watch his blog.

The captain hammer mini comic linked off the front page is pretty slick too.

The ending just raises more questions, such as
why wasn't there more Dead Bowie?
Yeah, I personally thought that ending couldn't be topped.  :sadpanda: and  ::D:

Seriously, have you ever seen an opera? That's what happens. Only they don't usually have Dead Bowie and Fake Thomas Jefferson at the end. Movie of the year.

Then straighten me out here. As much as I want to believe, as you all seem to, that the ending was in fact Penny dying and Dr. Horrible's ascension into evil. Followed by his admitting to his blog that he did really miss Penny by the way he expressed himself in the last line.

Even though that's a great ending that I can enjoy, I can't help but feel like it's the "it was all a dreeeaaam" ending. The last line switching to future tense, the fact that the music stops, and he's in street clothes which he never was while recording his blog makes me think that the ending was pointing to him just describing on the blog how if he was a super villain that's how things would work out for him.

Please tell me I'm wrong and the first idea is right.

You're wrong.  The blog was where Dr. Horrible expressed his true self, while Billy was a public facade.  In the end, this has reversed.  Dr. Horrible is now the public facade, while Billy is the only outlet left for his regret/guilt.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
« Reply #11 on: July 20, 2008, 05:23:44 PM »

drhorrible.com -- I assume everybody here's heard of it by now, but in case you haven't, it's a supervillain musical by Joss Whedon starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan (Captain Mal) Fillion.

Sharkey sums it up nicely:
Quote
... but enough of that, my new favorite thing in the world is live in its entirety. I never quite expected anyone to ever combine my loves of superhero deconstruction (or just fucking around a bit), death rays, romantic disasters, and musicals, but hey, Joss Whedon went and did it. Good on him.

Go watch it; if I'm not mistaken, tonight's the last night it's free.

Reminds me vaguely of Mystery Men (particularly Fillion's Captain Hammer recalling Greg Kinnear's Captain Amazing, with a dash of Zapp Brannigan thrown in), and I assume Horrible's resemblance to Doktor Sleepless is non-coincidental.

A deft little bit of genre parody (complete with
WiR ending
), and just general good fun.

OR MAYBE YOU FUCKERS SHOULD START NEW THREADS SOMETIMES  :MENDOZAAAAA:

Seriously, have you ever seen an opera? That's what happens.

Also, it's pretty standard fare for the past 3 decades' worth of superhero comics.

One of the most subtle points of the whole thing was the quality of the website. Good streaming with good video quality. Never lagged or paused once and there was literally zero load time. It's a small thing, but I appreciate that.

I mean, I other, more important compliments come to mind first obviously, but that's one I doubt anyone else will mention.

Spoilertags please, Rygaron.

And the ending was amazing.

I could've used a third Bad Horse song though.

My only beef with the ending was that I called it. But thats just because of Whedon has a habit of doing that.

I must admit, upon reflection, I loved
when he called himself a nail
. Another nice touch was the fact that
Dr. Horrible was the only one who had any actual second thoughts. Note that Hammer didn't even blink before pulling the trigger.
That's a fact. Brother loves a good mindfuck. Like when he did his stint writing Runaways, making issues come out 4 months apart only to simultaneously discard a cute redhead in favor of adding a new character that sucks. Oh, and Serenity.

Dr. Horrible, though. Arguably the best sing-along blog I've ever seen. Make every effort to watch it.

Seconding MMJr; the Captain Hammer comic isn't bad.  Not laugh-out-loud, but definitely decent.  Also, the artist draws the characters, not the actors; the latter has been a deal-breaker for me in the Serenity comics.

Also: watched it again today with my mom; she noticed that the extra who Dr. Horrible tells to take a picture right before his great triumph is an old friend of hers who used to do community theatre in Prescott.
