I stopped playing this series in the beginning of EP2, because the games did this: /¯¯¯\. It gets better and better until you have the badass gravity gun, and then you get past the first twenty minutes of EP2 and it's gone. So I stopped playing forever. I'm not going to play a game that so obviously gets worse.


That's episode 1 I believe.  Episode two there is no uberweapons except for the scene with the Vorts and the rock band.

For me, I just played Episode 2 again, and realized that it was better than I thought beforehands. 

Yes, there is only one new enemy.  That's alright as it did fit in with the rural aspect of the game. 

And despite the see-saw repeat, I did enjoy the end where it really kicks in that they have a physics engine. Why waste ammo on hunters when you can just opt for vehicular manslaughter?  All of a sudden, the stress of trying to get those buggers off of my back was replaced with carefree moments vehicular man_laughter.

Turning the game into GTA was the only viable way I found to do that part.

I think that's how you're meant to do it. The other way is to hold up a log, catch the hunter's flechettes with it, and throw it back at him.

There's an achievement for each.

Definitely suggest watching in high quality. There's a lot of detail. I've heard from a few sources that this is a student film, and unrelated to Half-Life except in inspiration.

And it is directly related to it. Pay attention to the ticker while he's walking through the dark hallway, it will mention the "Largest collapse since Black Mesa." I'll bet it's a fan work, unfortunately. Valve doesn't seem to be the type to buy into the viral marketing bit, especially when we haven't heard a peep about Ep3 at all.

By "unrelated" I meant "unofficial". Clearly it's heavily inspired by the Half-Life universe. It seems like this is a viral teaser for whatever their real project is, and I'm quite excited to see where it goes.

Word on the nets is it also has audio from Lost.  All in all in justs a fun little fan-made video with higher than normal production values.  Whether the viral ARG part pans out to anything of value is a different matter, though.

That said, it's been almost a year and a half since Ep2 and still nothing to go on.  A few concept art pieces have been released, but as evidenced by previous games anything this early in production is likely to be thrown out entirely by the time the retail version hits.  Doug Lombardi did say that it would take longer to get Ep3 than it did to get either Ep1 or 2, so we're in for a wait.   Not as nice as the Ep2 trailer at the end of Ep1 though.

Why take the time to do something right? Miyamoto's Maxim ("A late game is only late until it's released; a bad game is bad forever.") doesn't apply when you can release patches and content after-the-fact.

I'm parroting Mr.Young here, but that Bethesda managed to make a "great after installing 10 gigs of mods" product so successfully demonstrates our transition to this new, silly era.

EDIT:
Fuck you Brentai, you know that I know an extendable framework does take some worthwhile design. It doesn't dramatically abridge the criticism.

They don't have enough character points to do that and don't have any hex editors that work on Real Life.
