I won an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card in a raffle at PAX on Saturday.  The only problem is that it's PCI-express, and my motherboard only has an AGP slot.

Alright, now that that's out of the way, does anybody want it for a price reasonably approaching that of its AGP equivalent?

That's their new top line card isn't it?  I am interested, but I regret to inform you that you aren't going to find high power AGP cards.  All that is left are mid-range AGP cards.  (Last I checked that is.)

I'm interested, but I'm not sure what kind of motherboard I'll be investing in soon.

I have the AGP version of that exact same card, it's pretty nice, but the PCI-e version probably runs way better.

Also, Max, the radeon HD something or other is ATI's newest card, the one dooly has is the previous one, which isn't a bad thing.

I am terrible at Nvidia vs ATI comparisons.  I have a 8800 GTS 320MB.  Is the ATI card better?

This isn't ATI's latest card.  All the reviews for this card I've found are from late 2006.  For me to be able to use it myself, I'd have to buy a new motherboard, and probably new memory and a new power supply.  The AGP card I linked to in my previous post seems to be one of the last good AGP video cards made, and I know it'll be a damn sight better than my GeForce 6800.

Looking for a new AGP card that was pretty good is the entire reason I just bought a new computer instead.  Browse wisely.

well, that card is basically the best and probably the last good AGP card you'd be able to find, it still will be a little more expensive than a much better PCI-e card. And like Niku said, it's best if you start saving money for a new motherboard, cpu, memory than just trying to get the AGP version, at least you already have a decent PCI-e video card.

Hello friends, Toys R Us sometimes has really crazy fucking clearance deals(I regret not buying every copy of Twilight Princess we had for the GameCube when they were $10 because they vanished the next fucking day) and perhaps you'd like to benefit. I'll charge you the base cost after my employee discount, S&Hing(If you want it faster, you pay the extra expense!) + a dollar extra. That'll cover tax and give me up to 40-80 cents in delicious profit. I live to give. I'm posting the base costs before discount/taxes/everything right now. Availability is limited to whether or not you contact me and I buy the thing before actual customers do.

PSP - Castlevania X(Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night) for $10bux.

DS - Elite Beat Agents - $5bux.
       Insecticide - $10bux.
       Elements of Destruction - $10bux.
       Geometry Wars - $10bux.

Wii - Note: I think the BWii, RE and MP3 sales are a nation-wide TRU thing. It ends when the stores close on Saturday.
       Geometry Wars - $10bux.
       A Naruto Game - $10bux.
       Battalion Wars 2 - $25bux.
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - $25bux.
       Metroid Prime 3 - $25bux.

Everything else is crap, unless you've got a raging hard-on for Crash of the Titans.

Next week is supposed to be the start of another nation-wide(?) sale for buy any two games, get the third(of an equal or lesser value) free. I know I'm pinching my own clearance picks as a trio that week, and probably picking up some nice things as well.

I kinda figured that there would be two main types of people on these types of forums: those with jobs who can afford the games they want when they come out, and those who just can't afford anything most of the time.

That is why my deals are so great! Toys R Us has a psychotic and separate clearance indicator for titles that ignores the "standard" price based on time/popularity. That Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution price drop was from $50 YESTERDAY.

Up until august I was in the former. Then they decided to dump everyone with experience because new people are $3/hr cheaper.

(Side note: Yesterday I had a chat with a (former) coworker. The boss of the place is leaving, half of the people there have quit, and corporate is looking at shutting the place down)

But yeah, doom, Niku, the stuff I want but can't afford are that Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario Bros 3 Set (Lost my game) and that modded PS2.

Wow. I mistook Niku for Doom. At least this time I can blame the ear pain.

I was the former kind until this year, as well. Now I'm a starving student! I'm still happier than I used to be, though.
