I said MOST. There are a lot out there but most only have subtle arrows.

MOST.

I know! I just felt like pointing out the most egregious example.

Although, in retrospect, she'd make a much better Power Girl.

With maybe... Jewel Staite as Terra.

Yeah, no offense to Hendricks, but she doesn't exactly look Greek.

I could still see her as Medusa.

I like Christina Hendricks - she's absolutely delightful in Mad Men - but she just does not look Wonder Woman to me.  Also I've never seen her do action, and we don't want another Brandon Routh on our hands.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

I don't know if she could really convey the sort of strength they're looking for. I mean she's strong in Mad Men, but only because she's able to turn casual oppression into what she wants. She reacts a lot, lets others do the work.

I basically just never think of Wonder Woman as identifying herself as a woman. She's raised in a genderless society of amazon warriors... the actress wouldn't necessarily need to be good at conveying femininity, which is what Hendricks' primarily done in Mad Men and Firefly.

It'd be a chance yeah.

However, even if it was Catwoman terrible, I would still see it.

ALSO: It doesn't help that nobody knows what the fuck to do with Wonder Woman. She's written as being pretty uptight and matter-of-fact every time I've read an issue. This is not terribly fun to watch.

...so apparently somebody made a Wonder Woman porno and there are no lesbians or bondage?

Up next, a...
...
...you know, I'm trying to think of a hilarious "Up next, a ____ without ___ or ____" gag, but I cannot think of one that is actually MORE ludicrous than "a Wonder Woman porno without lesbians or bondage."  In fact, the next time I hear of someone missing the point entirely on something, something that should in fact be really, really fucking obvious and not require any explanation whatsoever, I'm gonna be like, "Dude, that's like making a Wonder Woman porno without lesbians or bondage."

Oh, they're finally making a show. Again.

Quote
The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.

Huh. I can get past the whole "not really having any time in your schedule for sleep" thing, but why a corporate executive? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Diana working in a humanitarian capacity? You know, given the whole 'ambassador' thing?

I noticed that they used the word "iconic" but I don't have anything in particular to say about it.

Sounds a bit like the Amanda Conner Power Girl, to be honest.

Which is in and of itself a good thing, but Conner's art was so goddamn vital to that book that any live-action adaptation will lose the spirit of the original.

(Long-term: if the Wonder Woman series -- and possibly the Raven series -- is successful, it may get WB to reconsider its current girls-have-cooties policy and maybe we'll see an animated adaptation of Conner's Power Girl.)

Don't know, but it'd be easier than Quitely's.  Her style really lends itself to animation.

Hell, Apocalypse did a great job with Turner's Supergirl design, and for my money he's harder to do in animation than she is too.

That frustrates me. If they wanted to do a Power Girlesque show, why not just make a show about Power Girl? But of course, she doesnt' have the name recognition of Wonder Woman, even though I enjoyed Amanda Conner's run on her book more than all of Wonder Woman in the last five years (a sentiment which I think a lot of people would echo).

Also problematic: Power Girl's origin. You know how everyone complains about characters like Batgirl and Supergirl and Spider-Woman?

Power Girl is literally a female clone of Superman's female clone.

Easily bypassed. She's Superman's cousin, all grown up!
