But then why not just call it "Supergirl" and have the brand recognition?

Some Wonder Woman show pilot sounds like every bad idea every ivory tower media executive has ever had.

however after reading between the lines I can see the brilliance: Whoever made this treatment has stealthily created a live action Wonderella show.

The number one villain is another corporate woman, eh?

Oh dear.

EDIT: "Henry Demeter"? Are you kidding me? Is that a name from the comic or did they really make up something that bad for the show?

The closest thing I can find is a Wonder Woman/Godzilla crossover fanfiction. Otherwise, yeah, it's exclusive to the show.

To be fair, they went and named her Diana Themyscira.  And then went through the trouble of naming her Diana Prince.

a Clark Kent-esque disguise involving contact lenses, glasses, pulling her hair back and a housecat named Desi

Wait, where does she put the cat to make it qualify as part of her disguise?

Maybe Diana Themyscira is famously allergic to cats, and kills cats on sight.  I mean, Cheetah's a Wonder Woman villain, isn't she?

I like that she wears contact lenses and glasses.

More on BleedingCool.

Highlight:

I don't want anyone to explain that to me; I prefer to think that SpongeBob just shows up at random to curse her out, because that is way more awesome than anything that could actually possibly happen on the show.

Her alter-ego's alter-ego.

Set photos; looks like they've actually responded to complaints about the costume design and fixed it.

Still fairly ambivalent about the premise and the David E Kelley-ness of the whole deal.  If Harry's Law is any indication, the plots will consist of whatever he just heard about on NPR.

A lot less ridiculous than the old version would, which itself was admittedly a lot less ridiculous than the traditional Wonder Woman costume would.  There's just no real way to do a superhero costume without it looking kinda ridiculous in a real world setting.

heh heh heh.

Seriously, though, I would be honestly surprised if the first episode passed the Bechdel Test.

Dude, she goes to a fucking slumber party and gushes over Katy Perry.

Passing the Bechdel Test is not the script's problem.

Quote
NBC isn’t saying for now but scuttlebutt reveals the pilot earned mixed reviews at test screenings. And then there was all the online blow back about the costume – which seemed to de-emphasize the patriotism and play up the comic’s Greek mythology. Ultimately, the wardrobe department went back to the drawing board but that didn’t seem to save the project.
